Obituary of Steven S. Rhodes

Steven Rhodes, 66, of Lakewood, NY, passed away unexpectedly Sunday, Oct. 22, 2023 in his home. He was born Dec. 15, 1956 in Jamestown, the son of the late Alvin E. and Beverly Dowd Rhodes, and was a graduate of Southwestern Central School. In earlier years employed by the former Monitor Furniture Co., Steve retired after over 30 years with the Jamestown Container Co. He had raced cars at Stateline Speedway and from a young age loved Motocross racing, winning many trophies and always displaying his favorite Number 33. Steve also loved gardening, as well as his white cats throughout the years. He was a member of the Lakewood Rod & Gun Club. Surviving is his wife, Diane Larson Rhodes, whom he married July 5, 1986; daughter, Rachael Brown of North East, PA and son, Michael Brown of Charleston, SC; two grandchildren, Logan and Kaylie Penton; and a sister, Marjorie Petro and nephew, James ((Lauren) Petro, all of Endwell, NY. The funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday in the Lind Funeral Home, led by Rev. Melvin McGinnis. Friends will be received for one hour prior to the service in the funeral home on Saturday.
