Obituary of Charles P. Painter

Charles P. Painter, 80, of 11 Peach Street, died Wednesday November 15, 2023, in UPMC Chautauqua. He was born September 28, 1943, in Brooklyn, NY, a son of the late Sidney and Virginia Vanderbeck Painter. He served in the US Navy from 1961-64. Prior to his retirement, he was a 36-year employee of Marlin Rockwell working as a machinist. He was a member of Jamestown Church of the Nazarene, American Legion Herman Kent Post 777, Vietnam Veterans of America, AMVETS, North American Iroquois Veterans Association and Veterans of Foreign Wars. He enjoyed singing with the Viking Male Chorus, Jamestown Barbershop Chorus, playing instruments, being with family, and reading his Bible. Surviving is his wife Sharon Wright Painter, whom he married March 1, 1969; three children David (Lisa) Painter of Jamestown, Melissa Painter of Toms River, NJ, and Jeffrey (Elizabeth) Painter of Carrollton, VA; three grandchildren Robert McKever, Donavan Sanchez, and Nina Bellucci; great granddaughter Destiny McKever and a brother Robert (Blanca) Painter of Lynchburg, VA. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his sister Mary Alice Mount and his brother Sidney Painter. The funeral will be held at 2 pm Sunday in the Lind Funeral Home, where friends will be received from noon to 2 pm on Sunday. A private committal service will be in Gerry Cemetery.
