Obituary of Donovan L. Bengtson

Donovan L. Bengtson, 89, of Louisa Ave. in Jamestown, passed away Monday, Nov. 27, 2023 in his home. He was born June 15, 1934 in Jamestown, the son of the late Thurston and Edith (Johnson) Bengtson, and had served and retired as head custodian from the Ashville BOCES. He was a longtime member of both the Lakewood Rod & Gun Club and the Fish Club, and in former years a Sky Diving group with his buddies. Don was well known as an avid golfer and bowler and could barely walk into an establishment without hearing "Hey Bang!" Surviving is his daughter, Tammy Bengtson Young (Thomas Jr.) of Tulsa, OK; two grandchildren, Andrew Young of Tulsa and Kaitlyn Young of Wilmington, NC; and three great-grandchildren, Braxton, McKinley and Ryker, all of Tulsa, OK. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Beverly Bengtson Colleen. No services will be observed at this time. A celebration of his life will be held at a future date. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Assoc. or to the American Cancer Society.
