Obituary of Thomas A. Sturges
Thomas A. Sturges (Tom, Tommy), 54, of Panama, passed away December 8, 2023, in UPMC Hamot, Erie, PA following a brief illness, surrounded by family.
Tom was born January 19, 1969, in Corry, PA, the son of Neil and Cindy Sturges.
He was a 1988 graduate of Panama Central School where he played football, basketball, and baseball.
Tom was employed at Neil's Propane since his teenage years. Tom enjoyed hunting, fishing, and especially dirt track racing. During the summer months Tom could be found at a local dirt racing track, in the pits helping with cars. His familiar face will be missed at Stateline next year.
Tom was also an avid supporter of his nieces and their sporting endeavors. He could be seen at swim meets, basketball games, and softball games year-round. He was there to support them from little league through their varsity careers. He will be truly missed by those who have had the privilege of knowing him over the years.
Besides his parents, he is survived by his grandmother Elinor Sturges, sister Darcy (Joe) Lyon, brother Tim (Chrissy) Sturges, nieces Karleen Sturges, Emily Lyon, Cassie Lyon, Addy Sturges, Jessica Lyon, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. In addition, Tom is also survived by his beloved beagle Danny (Danielson/Deeker).
