Obituary of Mary L. Zerbo
Mary L. Zerbo, 91, formerly of Jamestown, died Dec. 10, 2023 at Edna Tina Wilson Living Center in Rochester where she had resided for the past two and a half years.
Born in Jamestown Sept. 1, 1932, she was the daughter of Anthony and Margaret Gullo Zerbo who predeceased her.
Mary was also predeceased by three brothers, James and Russell Zerbo of Jamestown, Anthony Zerbo Jr. of Fredonia, her sister-in-law, Louise Zerbo of Fredonia and a nephew, John A. Zerbo of Los Angeles, CA.
She is survived by three nieces, Suzanne Saunders of York, PA., Margaret (Robert) Zercie of Rochester and Mary Lynn (Michael) Fuller of Sherrill, NY and a nephew, Anthony J. Zerbo (Shannon) of Wimauma, FL. Also surviving are three great nephews and three great nieces, eight great, great nephews and nieces, and many cousins and friends.
Mary was a graduate of Jamestown High School and spent her career working as a secretary in the medical field at local medical offices, the Medical Bureau, in the Surgical Unit at Jamestown General Hospital and in Admissions and Outpatient Services at WCA Hospital. She was a member of the Jamestown Chapter of Professional Secretaries International and was named Secretary of the Year by that organization at its annual Bosses Night. After retirement, she continued to work as sales manager and secretary at Dodson's Jewelers in Jamestown.
A lifelong member of St. James Church, she was a member of the church choir and the Catholic Daughters of America as well as many community organizations. She was appointed by former mayor, Carolyn Seymour, to serve on the Zoning Committee for the City of Jamestown.
She enjoyed dancing and participated in many dance competitions, worked to find homes for stray cats and enjoyed the field of astrology.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 13, 2024 at St. James Catholic Church. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery. Friends will be received from 3 to 6 p.m. Friday in the Lind Funeral Home.
