This news has really saddened me. I have know Lois my whole life. Growing up in Sunnyside she was ever present. She could be tough and soft all at the same time. As a kid, her home was always a safe haven for me. I loved her and my heartfelt condolences go out to Deb, Lisa, Gayle and all of their families. Fly high Lois.♥️

It’s taken me a few days to write this because I have been trying to find the right words. It still seems unreal that you are no longer with us. You were more than just a grandmother. You were the foundation that this family was built upon. You were the strongest person I knew. After raising 5 kids you then helped raise 6 grandchildren. You did so much for all of us. Whether it was walking us to the penny candy store, taking us to the Fluvanna elementary playground, playing ball with us in the backyard or helping us fish. I’ll always miss the simple things we did together like watching your soaps (or stories as you called them) daily after I came home from the Army. I’m so glad that Grant was able to create some memories with you. I just wish that Eleanora could have gotten to know her great grandma. I hope that I can be half as good of a person as you so that I can see you again in heaven. Until then I know you will be watching over all of us. I love you and I will miss you.

My mother-in-law, my friend, we have been through many happy and sad times. Some profound memories come to mind about living in your humble lake house. You taught me how to clean bullheads at your kitchen table! Hawk had caught so many we packed them up in a contractor bag (could hardly pick it up) and cashed them in at Quality Market. You were at our wedding but sadly Marsh had passed away within that year. I loved sitting on the stoop with you passing the day away, then Margie would come over and give us good laugh. Your door was open to anybody and everybody. All of Hawk's friends called you Maw Williams and to this day they say you were the best! When we had the fire in 1981 Carrie was only six months old you didn't think twice about letting us live there. The 2nd summer Ronnie and Mark were dropped off, so now we are doing laundry for 4 adults and 4 of your grand kids. The small faucet washer would only hold 1-2 pair of adult jeans and when it would spin it would move across the floor. The clothes came out almost dry but the wrinkles looked like they were pressed in, no dryer soooooo. There were numerous clotheslines out by the lake front and we would hang them out to dry. I remember Lisa and I floating in the lake anchoring ourselves with the weeds in true swamp rat form, while being pregnant with the boys. Lois, you were a caretaker of many! Watching you care for Wanda while she was sick influenced me to do the same for your son. Thank-you for giving birth to him. He was the love of my life. You also had some extraordinary quailities that helped you get through your many adveristies in your life.Your home may have been humble but it was filled with the RICHES OF LOVE.

Grandma Lois the toughest, kindest, most stubborn lady I have ever known. Us grandkids gave you a run for your money that's for sure, but you loved us all no matter what. My childhood Friday nights were my favorite because I got to spend it with you. My favorite time was when you would walk us all up to the playground at Fluvanna school and then over to Marsh's Market for ice cream, didn't matter to us that you never drove because you always made it fun for us. You never liked to wear shorts, but one hot, hot, hot summer night we convinced you to put a pair on and honestly I think that was the same night we convinced you and Dianne to swim in the lake and us kids just thought that was the best! Grandma, I have so many amazing childhood memories just purely because of you and your house on the lake I can't share them all. One thing I do want to say is thank you! Thank you for always being there for me when my parents and I were at odds and I wanted to "move out" you always welcomed me with open arms and solid advice. You were stronger than me when my dad passed away, and guided me through that to try and make it just a little bit easier. I still am watching Y and R to this day because if I was with you at that time of the day that's all we could watch because nothing was getting in the way of your soaps. Thank you for making me a kind soul when it comes to animals, my love for them definitely comes from you. Watching you save baby ducklings, or baby bunnies, honestly any animal that was in need made me want to do the same, which now both my boys are the same way. I am still making your Christmas mints and still have the original recipe card you gave me, because you had memorized the recipe and wanted me to have the card, honestly I think you just didn't want me to mess them up. I didn't and they taste just like yours did. Avery is now making your pickled cucumbers, they aren't as good as yours, but he tries No one will ever make them as good as you did! Each of us grandkids will have different memories of you, and some we won't even know the others have, but that's what made you so special grandma. You loved each of us in a different way, our own special way and for that I will be forever grateful. Rest easy, fly high and please give my dad the biggest hug ever for me. You will never be forgotten, and your memories will always live on. You left your imprint with all of us grandkids. Love you forever❤️
