Obituary of Joseph R. LaPlaca Jr.

Joseph R LaPlaca Jr., 80, died Thursday December 21, 2023, at his home in Jamestown. He was born September 24, 1943, in Jamestown, NY, the son of the late Joseph and Lucy Mancuso LaPlaca. He was a 1961 graduate of Jamestown High School. Prior to his retirement he was employed by Ellison Bronze in Falconer. He enjoyed playing and listening to music and spending time with family. He is survived by his two sons, Paul (Kathleen Strouse) LaPlaca of Cliffside Park NJ, and Michael LaPlaca of Boiling Springs, SC; grandson Toren Sparks-LaPlaca of Cliffside Park, NJ; sister Angie Russo; half-siblings Rae Lynn Penhollow DeAngelo, Roger Penhollow, Diane LaPlaca – Utzerath and Daniel LaPlaca. He was preceded in death by his wife Joanne Saletta LaPlaca, whom he married September 25th, 1965, and who died March 10, 2021. The funeral will be held at 2pm Friday Dec 29 at the Lind Funeral Home where friends will be received for one hour prior to the service.
