Obituary of Darlene P. Johnson

Darlene Pearl Johnson, 77, of Jamestown, passed away early Saturday morning, Dec. 30, 2023 in her home. She was born March 26, 1946 in Corry, Pa., a daughter of the late William and Mabel Upperman Swiderski, and was a graduate of Jamestown High School. In earlier years, she was employed by Sandee's Bakery and later by Little Caesars Pizza in Jamestown. Darlene loved her family, Elvis music, gambling, playing games, reading, and watching murder mysteries on the ID (Investigation Discovery) Channel. Surviving is a daughter, Rhonda (Edward) Garcia and their children, Jessie and Eddy of Cameron, TX; a son, Daniel (Suzanne) Johnson of Columbus, IN and their children, Danielle Johnson of Jamestown, and Cole Spencer, as well as Darlene's great-grandchildren, Avery, Serenity, and Jensen Spencer, all of Indiana. Also surviving are sisters, Janet (Nick) Schepsis and Debra Haller; sister-in-law, Faith Windegren; and several nieces and nephews. Along with her parents, Darlene was preceded in death by her husband, A. Ralph Johnson, whom she married June 27, 1964 and who died Dec.22, 2013; two sisters, Sandra Mabee and Peggy Hill; a son, Richard William Johnson; and a brother, Richard Norman Swiderski. A private family service will be held. Visitation will not be observed. Burial will be in Lake View Cemetery. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
