Obituary of Dawn E. Keefe
Dawn E. Keefe 95 of Lakewood NY went home to be with the Lord on Thursday January 11, 2024, in Heritage Park Rehab & Skilled Nursing.
She was born December 18, 1928, in Jamestown NY, the daughter of the late Allyn B and Olive Eggleston. Dawn was a graduate of Jamestown High School in 1947 and married the love of her life James Keefe on September 20, 1947.
She worked at Jenkins Dairy for several years and later worked for WCA as phlebotomist/Lab Technician until her retirement in 2008.
Dawn loved the Lord, her husband, her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Family was everything to her, and she loved being surrounded by all of them. Her favorite pastime was knitting and there wasn't a Christmas that went by that there were no mittens hanging on the tree for the grandkids. When she wasn't knitting, she would enjoy her time reading books. Dawn loved watching the Buffalo Bills Sunday afternoons and cheered loud as she rooted on her boys. She was so proud of her family and always made an effort to support her kids and grandkids by going to events and sports games.
Dawn was a member of Lakewood Baptist Church and a previous member of Hillcrest Baptist Church. Through the years, she sang in the choir, ran a bus ministry, youth leader, and enjoyed participating in women's bible studies. Dawn possessed a heart for others. Her most important attribute was being a God fearing, praying woman. It didn't matter if you were her family, or friend; she prayed for anyone who needed it.
Dawn is survived by her children, Dan (Rosie) Keefe of Lakewood, Tom (Nancy) Keefe of Flemingsburg KY, daughter-in-law Robin Keefe of Smithfield NC, Jamie (Cindy) Keefe of Falconer, Karen (Todd) Beals of Middlesex NC; 12 Grandchildren, Michelle(Paul) Mattson of Lakewood, Todd (Wendy) Keefe of Dewittville, Traci(Jim) Curtis of Frewsburg, Lisa (JR) Price of Flemingsburg KY, Lorie (Dario) MIstretta of Jamestown , Jeremy(Jen) Keefe of Haw River NC, Amber (Steve) Duncan of Garner NC, Christina (Joey) Buccola of Falconer, Dawn (Kevin) White of Cochranton PA, Andrew (Samantha Boutelle) Keefe of Jamestown, Breanna (Jared) Newton of Sims NC, Brandon (Mari) Beals of Franklinton NC as well as 30 great grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband James (2010), her son David (2021), grandson Adam, and a brother Ernest Eggleston.
A memorial service will be held at 3 pm January 26, 2024, in Lakewood Baptist Church. Rev. Mark Hinman of Hillcrest Baptist Church will officiate.
Visitation will be held at the church from 1:30-3 pm on the day of the service.
Memorials can be made at either Lakewood Baptist Church, 150 Erie St, Lakewood, NY 14750 or Hillcrest Baptist Church, 40 Hallock Street, Jamestown, NY 14701.
