Obituary of Kathryn E. Carlson

Kathryn E. Carlson, 87, of 3154 Moon Road, died Saturday January 27, 2024, in UPMC Chautauqua. A lifelong area resident, she was born May 8, 1936, in Jamestown, a daughter of the late Gerald and Geraldine Stevenson Dennison. She was a 1954 graduate of Bemus Point High School. Prior to her retirement she was employed by The Post Journal as an advertising layout artist. She had also done work for Edborg's and Caprino's. Kathryn was a gifted artist. She enjoyed sculpting, gardening, time spent in nature, traveling, played five different instruments and loved all animals. She and her husband spent many hours volunteering at the Martz Observatory. Surviving is her husband Richard Carlson, whom she married 60 years ago on January 18, 1964, and two daughters Patricia (Anthony Uzzanti) Carlson of Lawrenceville, GA and Susan Carlson of Pittsburgh, PA. She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister Lois Johnson. A private graveside service will be held at the convenience of the family. Visitation will not be observed.
