Obituary of Paul S. Calannio Jr.

Paul S. Calannio, Jr., of Jamestown, died Wednesday January 31, 2024, in his home. He was born January 31, 1949, in Jamestown, a son of the late Paul and Helen Smith Calannio, Sr. He was a 1967 graduate of Jamestown High School and went on to earn an associate degree from Jamestown Community College. In his earlier years, Paul served in the United States Army, where he demonstrated his dedication and commitment to his country. After his military service, he pursued a career at the United States Postal Service, where he worked for many years until his retirement. Paul was a loving and devoted family man. His family meant everything to him, and he would do anything to support and care for them. Despite battling Parkinson's disease for many years, he maintained a great sense of humor and brought laughter to those around him. Paul was known for his quick wit and always found a way to make people smile. He was an avid runner, weightlifter, and had a deep passion for basketball. In fact, he proudly claimed to be "the greatest rebounder that ever lived." Paul will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. His memory will forever live on in the hearts of those whose lives he touched. Paul is survived by the love of his life, Linda Giambelluca Calannio, whom he married October 23, 1982; his brother, Dr. James Juliano of Warren, PA; another brother, John Calannio of Jamestown, NY; his son, Paul (Kate) Calannio of Greensboro, NC; his stepson, Tim (Missy) Allesi of Lebanon, OH; and his three cherished granddaughters, Hannah, Ana, and Carsyn. He also had a dear friend, John Linza, who provided invaluable care and support during his illness. Per Paul's request, no funeral service is planned at this time. A memorial service will be arranged at a later date to honor his life and legacy. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research, Grand Central Station, PO Box 4777, New York, NY 10163-4777. You may leave words of condolence at www.lindfuneralhome.com.
