Obituary of Phyllis M. Bjork

Phyllis M. Bjork, 99, formerly of 1669 Big Tree Rd Lakewood, passed away Thursday February 15, 2024, in the Star Hospice House in Lakewood. She was born January 14, 1925, in Jamestown, NY, the daughter of the late Algert and Esther Lindbeck Larson. Phyllis was a 1942 graduate of Jamestown High School. Before her retirement she worked at the General Hospital as a medical laboratory technician. She was a lifelong member of the First Covenant Church, Fellowship at the Cross, Koinonia Community, and Lakewood Rod & Gun Club Inc. Phyllis loved playing golf in her Bemus Point women's league, bowling, ceramics, and painting. She also enjoyed quilting in the Mission Meadows Quilters Guild but most importantly spending time with her family and cooking for family gatherings. Surviving are her two sons, Randall V. (Kimberly) Bjork of Lockport, NY, Daniel R. (Cynthia) Bjork of Twinsburg, OH; three grandchildren: Kimberly (Mark) Ortega of Twinsburg, OH, Pastor Aaron D. (Andrea) Bjork of Jamestown, Lindsay (Michael) Coulombe of Cheektowaga, NY and six great grandchildren Gabriella, Sarah and Julianna Ortega, Margaret, Damien, and Garrett Coulombe. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Richard M. Bjork, whom she married June 14, 1946, and who died July 13, 2012; her son Marcus Bjork and her brother Vernon Larson. The funeral will be held at 2 pm Tuesday February 20, 2024, at the Lind Funeral Home. Her grandson Pastor Aaron Bjork will officiate the service. Friends will be received two hours prior to the service from 12 to 2 pm at the funeral home. Burial will be at Sunset Hill Cemetery.
