Obituary of Michael S. Wells

Michael S. Wells, 44, of Panama, died Friday March 1, 2024, surrounded by family in Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center. Mike was born 6 November 1979 in Jamestown, NY, the son of William and Mary Wells of Ashville, NY. A 1998 graduate of Panama Central School, Mike was drawn to and could fix anything with a motor. He made a professional life as a self-employed mechanic and off duty continued as a "Jack of All Trades" helping his friends and family fixing anything mechanical. First and foremost, Mike was an outstanding father who loved spending time with his family, often combining his second love, outdoor motorsports with them and his many friends. In summer you would find him and his boys on dirt bikes, ATVs at his camp or on his latest restored boat on Chautauqua Lake. In winter he was all about snow machines, tuning them up and riding the countless county trails. Surviving is his life partner of 23 years Baylee Stebbins with whom he made his home; two sons Gage and Bryson of Panama; his mother Mary Wells of Ashville, a brother Charles "Chuck" (Annette) Wells of Jamestown and a sister Billie Jo (Matthew) Finnerty of Panama. He was preceded in death by his father Bill and a sister Michelle Wells. A memorial service will be held at 5 pm Friday in The Rock Church, 35 W. Fairmount Avenue, Lakewood, NY.
