Obituary of Madeline R. DeMarco

Madeline R. DeMarco, 79, of 308 Howard Avenue, went to be with the Lord, Tuesday March 12, 2024, in UPMC Chautauqua surrounded by her loving family. She was born December 14, 1944, in Jamestown, a daughter of the late Joyce Giambelluca, and was a 1962 graduate of Falconer Central School. Always caring for others, Madeline worked for The Resource Center as an aide and later as a private home care provider. She was a member of The Salvation Army and a communicant of St. James Catholic Church. Her other memberships included Viking Lodge, Lakewood Rod and Gun Club, TOPS 721, the Jamestown Boys and Girls Club and Red Hatters. Everyone knew Madeline for her blue car with the orange flame that her husband bought her to cruise the town. She was also known for sitting in the front row at every dance recital to support and cheer on her family. Her doors were always open to friends and family to stop by, get a drink, have a bite to eat, and have great conversations. She always gave the best advice with many life lessons and always told the truth no matter how hard it was to hear. Madeline was known by her great grandchildren as "Grandma Nana" and they were the only medicine she needed. She always told them, "I love you big as the sky." Surviving are four daughters: Victoria (Christopher) Haskell, Mary Jo (Steve) Caldwell, and Gina (Jon) Harris all of Jamestown, and Rose Marie (Paul Morris) DeMarco of Erie, PA; her cousin, Linda Calannio; twelve grandchildren: John (Andrea) Haskell, Julia (Travis) Faulk, Jaclyn Ferraro, Justine (Chris) Jock, Lauren (Paul) Baker, Andrew (Samantha) Caldwell, Matthew (Mary) Caldwell, Frankie Farrell, Sy Farrell, Johnna Farrell, Phillup Harris and Maddie Harris; fourteen great-grandchildren; two sisters, RoseAnn (John) Samuelson and Angel (Alberto) Rodriguez and two brothers, Ronnie and Tom Caruso; as well as many nieces and nephews. Besides her mother, she was preceded in death by her husband, John C. DeMarco, whom she married October 19, 1963 and who died October 24, 2008. She also was preceded in death by an adopted daughter, Catherine Bosseler and a brother, Daniel Caruso. A private graveside service will be held at the convenience of the family. Visitation will not be observed. Memorials may be made to the Salvation Army.
