Obituary of Evelyn L. Lee

Evelyn L. Lee, 100, of Jamestown, passed away peacefully Wednesday March 27, 2024, at Heritage Village Health Care Center. She was born June 11, 1923, in Jamestown, NY, the daughter of the late John and Julie Franzen Lindblad. Evelyn was a 1941 graduate of Jamestown High School. She continued her education at Jamestown school of practical nursing. In her earlier years she worked at Osram Sylvania Inc during World War II. She was also a nurse at Jamestown General Hospital and at Lutheran Social Services. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Scandinavian Culture Days, and the Eastern Star. She was also very active in the Grange. Surviving are her three children Nancy (Larry) Hinshaw of Burlington, NC, Richard (Cindy) Lee of Erie, PA, and James (Doreen) Lee of Jamestown; six grandchildren: Jay (Lauren) Christmas of Winston-Salem, NC, Jeff (Meredith McCarroll) Christmas of Portland, ME, Reverend Scott (Kelly) Lee of Philadelphia, PA, Bryan (Nicole) Lee of Erie, PA, Samantha (Spencer) Scalf of Onoville, NY, and Marc (Amee) Nazario of Jamestown, NY; eleven great grandchildren: Jasper and Vesta McCarroll-Christmas of Portland, ME, Jacob and Lily Christmas of Winston-Salem, NC, Kenzie and Andie Lee of Erie, PA, Keira and Julia Lee of Philadelphia, PA, Svetlana and Sullivan Scalf of Onoville, NY, and Kyle Nazario of Jamestown, NY. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Ernest Lee whom she married June 11, 1948, and who died February 17, 1983; and her brother Gordon Lindblad. A memorial service will be held at 3 pm Saturday, April 13, 2024, in Christ Chapel at the Lutheran Home.
