Obituary of John N. Venable

John Venable, 61, of Gerry, NY, passed away Saturday, May 4, 2024 in his home following a brief illness. He was born Aug. 23, 1962 in Jamestown, a son of the late Johnie and Rose Marie Trunzo Venable, and was a graduate of Jamestown High School. In earlier years, he worked with his family at Venable Construction and more recently was a truck driver for Peterson Trucking. John loved car racing, from Cadets and being voted Rookie of the Year at Pennsylvania's Ace High Speedway in 1994, to working his way up to being very successful in the super late class racing as well. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, snowmobiles, and riding motorcycles. He also looked forward to spending winters in Key West, Fla. Surviving is his son, Johnie Venable, Jr., granddaughter, Rayna Venable, and brother, Daniel Venable, all of Gerry; as well as several cousins, including Rusty Blaty of Arkansas. John was preceded in death by his father in 2023, mother in 2021, and his sister, Johneen Venable Berry in 2019. The funeral will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, May 11th in the Lind Funeral Home. Rev. Paul Cygan will officiate. Friends will be received for two hours prior to the service Saturday, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery.
