Obituary of John R. Swanson

John R. Swanson, 75, of 258 Springdale Avenue, died Sunday May 12, 2024, in UPMC Hamot, Erie, PA. He was born January 10, 1949, in Ridgway, PA, a son of the late Harry and Ruby Thompson Swanson. He was a graduate of Cassadaga Central School. Prior to his retirement he was employed by Jamestown Board of Public Utilities for 25 years as a maintenance supervisor. John was a member of Camp St. United Methodist Church, Falconer Moose Lodge, and the American Legion. He enjoyed golfing and fishing and loved to travel. Surviving are two children Kelly (David) Wawrzyniak of Frewsburg and Jasen (Nicki) Swanson of Jamestown; three grandchildren Robbie Higden and Alex and Gracen Swanson; a brother James Swanson of Brockport, PA, and an Aunt Nellie Passerchek. He was preceded in death by his wife Cynthia "Cindy" Swanson, whom he married March 5, 1971, and who died March 18, 2021, and an infant brother Douglas Swanson. The funeral will be held at 11 am Wednesday in the Lind Funeral Home where friends will be received for one hour prior to the service Wednesday. Burial will be in Gerry Cemetery.
