Obituary of Ronald M. Nixon Sr.

Ronald M. Nixon Sr, 79, of Jamestown, passed away Friday May 24, 2024. He was born August 16, 1944, in Niobe, NY, the son of the late Cleo and Frances Hamilton Nixon. He was preceded in death by his sister Helen Felt and a brother Alvin Nixon, also by 3 half-sisters and 2 half brothers Following High School, he joined the U.S. Army serving from 1967 to 1968. He served in Viet Nam as a truck driver. Before his retirement he worked at Atlas Furniture Company where he was the union president for several years and most recently, he was a janitor for the Jamestown Public Schools. Ronald was a member of the Ellery Center Volunteer Fire Company. Ronald loved to go out to eat at his two favorite restaurants, Davidsons, and Bob Evans, always making jokes with the staff. He took every chance he could to get out of the city. He Loved to go camping and be outdoors. He was a mechanic for many years and liked to fix things. He liked to make others smile. Surviving is his son Ronald (Tracy Eller) Nixon Jr, of Fredonia, NY. Sylvia Nixon, of Jamestown, NY to whom he was married for many years. He will be deeply missed by many Nieces and Nephews, Great Nieces and Nephews, and Great Great Nieces and Nephews. The funeral will be held at Noon Thursday May 30, 2024, at Lind Funeral Home. Friends will be received from 4 to 6 pm Wednesday at the Lind Funeral Home and an hour prior to the service on Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be held at Lake View Cemetery.
