Obituary of Wanda A. Poweski

Wanda Ann (Lamb) Poweski, 93, of Dunkirk, died Saturday May 25, 2024, in the Warren Hospice House. She was born October 13, 1930, in Dunkirk, the daughter of the late Norman Lamb and Elsie (Davidson) Lamb. A lifelong Dunkirk resident, Wanda was employed by the Dunkirk Telephone Company then SUNY at Fredonia and retired from Gowanda Psychiatric Hospital. She was a member of American Legion Post 62, Dom Polski Club and Kosciuszko Club. She was a big supporter of anything in Dunkirk and was very proud of her city. She was an avid gardener and grew beautiful roses over the years. She loved to travel and did so worldwide for many years. With her husband they travelled in their RV from Alaska to Panama. A lifelong sports fan of the Buffalo Bills and Sabres. Original (1960) season ticket holder for the Bills. Survivors include one son, Allen (Susan) of Sherrills Ford, NC, daughter-in-law, Kim Robillard Poweski of Auburn; two grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Alojzy, her son, Steven T. Poweski; two brothers and a sister. She will be cremated, and her ashes will join those of Alojzy in Lake Erie at a date yet to be determined.
