Obituary of Robert P. Truver

Robert P. Truver, 60, of 4344 W. Summit Street, Lakewood, died Friday May 24, 2024, in UPMC Chautauqua. He was born January 19, 1964, in Jamestown, a son of the late Theodore and Joan Bryant Truver. He was a 1982 graduate of Southwestern Central School. He was part owner of TLC Landscaping with his wife and brother. He had also worked for Fancie Transportation, Southwestern Schools and Corvis. He was also the owner of Bob's Discount Foods in Sugar Grove, PA. He was a member of the LLAMA Club and Sons of the American Legion. Robert "Bobby" as he was fondly called, lived life to the fullest. Always with a smile and amazing wit and humor. In his younger years he would travel to Florida and Colorado to work with his brother Doug. Bobby bragged with pride about mowing Jackie Gleason's lawn in Florida. He had fond memories of growing up on Jones Street in Lakewood and always reminisced about his friends that he made during that time. The next stop on his journey in life was moving to Bentley Ave. where he would open his upstairs window and belt out the National Anthem for the ball players at Packard Field. Bobby's children and grandchildren were his pride and joy. Taking his children on a family vacation to Disney was a treasured time. Bobby camped for years with his wife and children at Homestead Park, where Bobby hosted many of his famous "Fish Fry's" and cookouts for his family and friends. Traveling to Oklahoma with his wife and children for family summer vacations to enjoy fishing and camping at Waurika, Lake Marina was an enormous highlight during his lifetime. He love, love, loved his wife's parents as if they were his own. One of his favorite memories was playing guitar with his father-in-law. All who knew him, knew how much Bobby LOVED to eat and cook! His "Bob's B.O.B.S" were a big hit next to his "Bob's Benedict" at the LLAMA club, and always sold out! Bob's love for guitar led him to play in many bands over the years. One of his fondest, was collaborating with some very talented musicians to put out a C.D. of original music. Bobby fondly called his band "Smoking Scissors". Bobby was able to meet one of his favorite rock stars Brian Johnson of AC/DC and Brian signed Bobby's favorite guitar, his 1962 Gibson. Another highlight in his life was meeting Canadian rockstar Kim Mitchell. He even autographed Bob's treasured vintage View finder. Bob was a huge collector of old toys and such. For years Bob and his wife had an eBay store named "Bobsnobs" which was highly rated for his unique ability to buy and sell vintage toys, books, comics, and games. Teaching guitar was a pure joy to him. His son Blake was his first student and has excelled into a very talented guitar player just like his father, which made him so proud. His grandson Mason had the honor of being his last student. His wife, Kimmie, always dreamed she would marry "Peter Frampton" someday... When she met Bobby and married, her dream came true. Always and forever her "Guitar hero". In 2021 Bobby was blessed to give his daughter Joanie's hand in marriage, gaining another son to the family. He proudly played his music for family and friends at the reception. "My dad was honestly the best dad, the best dad that anyone could ever hope for in life. That's what he lived for and was best at. He was GREAT at so many things: hunting, fishing, cooking, and music. He tried his best to pass all his knowledge down to my sister and me. He was the kind of man I will always strive to be. A loving, caring and thoughtful husband, father, brother, and friend to all. He set the example of a simple and full life that I will always look to follow. He always gave the best advice because he knew what he would do, which was always the right thing. I will always follow in my father's footsteps, knowing that if I veer from that path, he will forever be there in spirit, and I will always and forever keep his spirit alive. Surviving is his wife Kimmie Padilla Truver, whom he married January 16, 1999; three children Joanie (Levi) Knapp of Jamestown, Blake (Monica Gassman) Truver of Lakewood and Jason Fincher of Pennsylvania; grandchildren Hayden, Harley, Mason, Ariannah, and Sabien, and a brother Doug (Laura) Truver of Greenhurst. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by a son Robert Truver, Jr; a sister Marcella "Cindy" Carlson and a brother Timothy Truver. Prior to his passing, a benefit was organized for his cancer journey which will now take place as a celebration of life. This will be held from 12pm-8pm, June 9th, 2024, at the LLAMA club in Ashville N.Y. Come join us in celebration. Memorials may be made to a charity of choice.
