Obituary of Arvid O. Palmer

Arvid O. Palmer, 87, formerly of Donelson Road passed away peacefully with his daughter by his side on Saturday May 25, 2024, in Mission Oaks Care Facility, Oxford, FL, where he was a resident. Born December 24, 1936, in Jamestown, he was the son of the late Victor and Mildred Doud Palmer. He was a Veteran of the US Air Force serving from 1955-60. Prior to his retirement he was employed by Dawson Metal for 33 years as a tool maker. His memberships include Lakewood Rod and Gun Club and Chautauqua Lake Fishing Association. Arvid was an avid dancer, enjoyed his Wednesday night bluegrass and loved fishing and being on the lake with his friends. Sunday breakfast at the fish club and having good laughs and good food was a highlight of his week. He enjoyed constructing model airplanes, built and flew two ultralight airplanes. Surviving are three children David (Diane) Palmer of Yardley, PA, John (Cindy) Palmer of Lakewood and Carol (Matt) Walker of Oxford, FL; five grandchildren Nick, Alex, Morgan, Bailey and Bryce and a brother Arthur Palmer of Kiantone. He was preceded in death by his wife Freda Palmer. A celebration of life will be held at 11 am Tuesday at the Chautauqua Laje Fishing Association, 9 E Chadakoin Pkwy, Celoron.
