Obituary of Roy R. Holmes Jr.

Roy R. Holmes, Jr, 70, of Ellery, passed away Thursday June 6, 2024, at his home in his sleep. He was born October 12, 1953, in Jamestown, NY, the son of the late Roy Holmes Sr. and Margaret Boswell. He was a 1971 graduate of Maple Grove High School. He was an avid wrestler and shot putt. Before his retirement he worked at Weber Knapp, Falconer Glass, AMSCO and most notably for Johnson Machine in Jamestown as a CNC operator for 23 years. He was a lifetime member of both the Moose Lodge 2587 and Ellery VFW. Roy enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren when they visited from out of state. He found joy in hunting, fishing and bird watching. Surviving is his wife Beverly Tracy Holmes whom he married September 15, 1990; his two stepdaughters Kim (Eric) Feldmeyer, Kelly (Dan) Gildner; four grandchildren: Noah, Nathan, Rylan and Lennix; his sister Kathy (Ray) Langworthy; two stepbrothers; and nieces Stacey, Jennifer, Megan, and Colleena. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his sister Roberta Friez; two brothers: Barry Holmes and Robb Boswell, and grandparents Edna and Marshall Holmes. In keeping with Roy's wishes, there will be no service or visitation. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
