Obituary of Alma I. Birath
Alma I. Birath, 83, of 2970 Curtis Street, Ext., Jamestown, died Friday June 7, 2024, in Star Hospice House, Lakewood.
A lifelong Jamestown resident, she was born June 27, 1940, a daughter of the late Laverne and Phyllis Boyd Sherman.
Prior to her retirement she was employed by Heritage Village as a certified nursing assistant and earlier had worked for Automatic Voting Machine.
She was a member of Red Hatters.
Alma enjoyed cookouts and gardening but more than anything she loved time spent with her family.
Alma's family would like to express their most heartfelt thanks to the wonderful staff of Chautauqua Hospice and Palliative Care who supported and guided them through this journey with empathy and compassion.
Surviving is her husband Albert Birath, whom she married December 1, 1956; two children Douglas (Narda Calhoon) Birath of Jamestown and Kimberly (Robert Warner) Walsh of Jamestown; four grandchildren Jeff Birath, Desiray Corrigan, Adam (Nicole) Walsh and Ashley Birt and six great grandchildren Jordan and Mason Corrigan, Bryce Jedrysik, Trinity Birt and Lexa and Vaughn Walsh.
She was preceded in death by brother Ronald Sherman; sister Sylvia Larson; son in law Steven Walsh; daughter in law Donna Birath and grandsons in law Jarod Corrigan and Jerimiah Birt.
A private graveside service will be held at the convenience of the family.
