Obituary of Jean N. Landin

Jean Nordstrom Landin, 101, of Sugar Grove, PA, passed away peacefully June 6, 2024 in Heritage Park Rehab and Skilled Nursing. She was born November 20, 1922, in Ridgway, PA to Emil and Nell Engstrom Nordstrom. She lived in Ridgway until her wedding on August 21, 1948, to Harold Wendell Landin of Sugar Grove. They lived for a time in California, PA while Harold completed his bachelor's degree which had been interrupted by his service in the US Army Air Corps during WWII. After that they moved to Sugar Grove where they lived the rest of their lives. Jean was the school secretary at Sugar Grove Elementary School for many years, retiring in 1987. She then worked as a volunteer at the Sugar Grove Free Library. Jean was a long-time member of Zion Covenant Church in Jamestown, NY, serving in many ministries throughout her life. Her home was a place of love and peace, often filled with the aroma of delicious baked goods. She is remembered as a caring person, loyal to her family, friends, and neighbors. Above all, she was faithful to her Lord Jesus, who was the foundation of her life. Jean was preceded in death by her husband Harold, in 1985, and a sister, Grace Vennberg. She is survived by her three sons, Dr. Wendell (Dr. Cecelia) Landin of Schererville, IN, Dr. Dennis Landin of St. George, LA, and Dr. Kent (Lisa) Landin of Sugar Grove; four grandchildren, Pamela Landin (Tyler) Huenink, of Munster, IN, David (Dr. MacKenzie) Landin of Scottsdale, AZ, Rev. Eric (Alanna) Landin of Batavia, IL, and Philip (August) Landin of Batavia, IL, and seven great grandchildren. Jean was looking forward to this day when she would be reunited with Harold at the Lord's feet along with so many other relatives and friends that preceded her passing. "For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain." Philippians 1:21 A memorial service will be held at a later date. Memorials may be made to Zion Covenant Church, 520 Fairmount Ave, Jamestown, NY 14701 or Camp Mission Meadows, 5201 E. Lake Rd, Dewittville, NY 14728.
