Aunt Nancy was the sister of my late grandmother, B.J. Nelson. The last time I saw Aunt Nancy was when she came to Seattle for both my wedding and my brother's wedding. I was thrilled that she would come all the way across the country to see us.
What I remember so fondly about Aunt Nancy was that she was sort of a step in grandmother for the one that we lost as young children. It was a privilege to know her and to love her, to share stories and to laugh with her.
The last time I saw Aunt Nanc was several years ago at my brother's wedding. I walked down to the beach at with Aunt Nancy and my Aunt Sue where we picked a large log to sit on and watch the sun go down. We shared family stories, good laughs and friendship until we were briefly interrupted by my husband. We told him to sit down and join us, to which he replied "No way, I'm not getting in between three generations of feistiness!"
Aunt Nancy will undoubtedly be missed. I'll miss her homemade Christmas cards, the laughs that we shared and knowing that someone loved me like a grandmother.
Pete, Peggy and Marsha, you are in our thoughts and prayers during this time. With love, Lindsay Nelson-Hanculak

George and I send our condolences to Pete and his family. George was so proud of his cousin Nancy, naming his only daughter after her. We were fortunate enough to visit with her on a few occcasions and what a delight she was. I am sure she was a light to all she encountered.

How special my Aunt Nancy has been to me! We share roots in Chicagoland, a middle name, some feistiness. We both love flowers, birds, colors, music (she was born on Mozart's birthday), family lore, talking with people. She also liked dogs, big ones especially. Her real passion has been community service. Many know her for her thoughtful and tenacious leadership. Though I came to see those qualities too, my early memories of her were as the family beauty, one especially adventuresome and vivacious. Always she was fun and interesting!
Aunt Nancy and my mother were faithful sister correspondents across the many miles between Jamestown and Chicago. Mom delighted in every letter, often reading and re-reading them aloud to dad, my brothers, me and anyone else at the kitchen table. Our families shared some summer vacations: Here we went to Lincoln Park Zoo, The Art Institute, Lake Geneva; there we checked out Lucille Ball's roots, sailed Chautauqua Lake, took side trips to magnificent Niagara Falls and to spellbinding Corning Glassworks. In more recent years, as fun and interesting as ever, she introduced me to investment clubs, debated politics, shared highlights from her world travels, and sailed with me on my first cruise - to beautiful Alaska.
Pete, please know that I am thinking of you and miss her too. Heartfelt condolences to you and your family.

To Elofson Family:
I had the privilege of knowing your mother professionally and personally for the last several years. Nancy was on our Board of Directors at Chautauqua Adult Day Care Centers, Inc... She was at every event and helped in so many ways. Nancy was someone I looked up to for guidance and she was always there to lead me in the right direction. She was an awesome lady and I was proud to have her as a mentor through the years. Nancy will be missed by all of us here at Chautauqua Adult Day Care Centers

I met Nancy when I was interviewed for the position of Executive Director of the Chautauqua Adult Day Care Centers Inc. in 1990. I was hired for the position and got to know her and her passion for our agency as well as her community. She was an inspiration for me and because of her perseverance and dedication; her contributions to starting the first Adult Day Care program in Chautauqua have touched the lives of many older adults and families in the community. She was a great lady and we will truly miss her.
