Just found this while looking for Nancy.
Such a lovely man. I had not realized that he was almost the exact same age as Roy--Feb vs. April 1939.
He always sent me Easter Lilies every year after the Easter that Roy died.
Thanks, Percy for being you, for being Roy's friend, and having Nancy for a sister.

We both send our love to all the family.
Percy was blessed with three beautiful children, and for that we are so grateful.
Sorry we couldn't make it. But we hold our family in Jamestown close to our hearts and minds.
Sincerely,
Brendolynn and Mike Johnner

Many of us were fortunate to share our Class of 60 50th Reunion and Muster with Percy. Frienships endure and it's always special to visit with someone you haven't seen in a long time. I know there will be a resounding "HERE" when Precy's name is called at the next Muster.
My thoughts and prayers go out to Percy's fanily and all who knew and loved him. May he rest in God's care.

Percy will be well remembered by the Class of '60 and many others whom he befriended during his lifetime. Last April at the reunion we had a nice chat after he presented me with that colorful Aggie coat emblem he passed out to many. Among other things, we discussed the make-up of the Class Gift Committee, and when we varied on one item, he mentioned that he'd always had an excellent memory...lol!!!

Percy was a great person and a great boss. He probably gave his Conewango Products ladies thousands of roses over the years, and that's got to be some sort of record. It still makes me laugh to think of him ordering his tuna fish sandwich every day at LCD under P.D. Mims, and every single time they wrote Petey Mims on the wrapper. He never corrected them.

How sad that Mr. Mims has passed away at such a young age with so much life left for him to live with his family and freinds. I personally never knew the side of Mr. Mercy Mims that the paper talked about, but I did work for him many years ago for a short period of time ,I t was a nice place to work , but Percy traveled alot getting his bussines going so we never saw a lot of him. Now my daughter has just started to work at Conewango pruducts and loves it there. I must say I didn't know he led such a life, and a wonderful one that everyone talked of . May God Bless him inheaven and may he see all of his wonderfull freinds and family there some day.

I knew Percy and also his father.
Percy was just like his father, in loving Texas A&M.
One time Percy Sr. was driving by a funeral at a cemetery, and he stopped to see who was being buried. Percy did not know the person, and when the preacher asked if anyone had something to say about the deceased, no-one answered, and there was a moment of nervous silence.
Percy raised his hand and said," since all of you fine people are here, I'd like to take this moment to tell you about a fine college named "Texas A&M".
In 1956, on the Texas A&M campus,Percy Jr. and I were in the crowd when Percy Sr. told this to a huge crowd of Aggies before a football game.
Yes, I will miss my Aggie buddy.

Percy and I were assigned to be roomates our freshman year. How they were able to put exact opposites together I was never able to understand. When I introduced
myself as Wayne Hodges, he said his name was fish Mims. He said he didn't want us to drop handles with each other because we might slip up and call each other by our names in front of an uperclassman.
We had quite a few problems that first year but at the end we both decided to be roomates our sophmore year. We became good friends which I cherish. I saw more of Percy the last couple of years and will miss is company very much. With love. Wayne

P.D was a fine gentleman and a good friend. It so good to talk with him at our 50th A&M Class reunion in April. I was not aware that he was facing a bout with cancer and to me he was still the same smiling Percy that I had known for so long. He even joked about his mother throwing away his original "manuscript" of Mimms Manners.I suppose a few of us might have learned quite a bit from his treaste on the ways of a "gentleman". We also talked a bit about him calling me on the field phone to find out what all the commotion was while we were merely having a gentle discussion with the young men in my outfit. I would always assure Percy that all was well. We have lost a good Aggie buddy, and I for one was glad to have had a nice chat with him, and never knowing that that would be the last for me. Rest well, my friend!! Stan Wied

Percy always brought grace and light-hearted humor to any gathering.
We took many SCONA fund raising trips together while at A&M seeking support from industry in the US and Mexico, we spent weekends together at my Hill Country cabin with others on the SCONA staff. Percy even managed to get arrested in Boerne going the wrong way on the only one way street in town and it was only one block long. This event was always a source of good humor and laughter when we got together and recalled our time at College Station.
We skied together in NY and sailed together on Lake Champlain. Percy was a friend and will be missed. He has slipped the surly bonds of earth and touched the face of God.

Percy, we will miss you. As a Classmate at A&M, you were a friend and a leader. After graduation your contributions to A&M were a constant source of support. You were a loyal and participating member of the Class of 1960. At our 50th Class Reunion in April you were an active participant in our activities thruout those four days. You supported and made a generous contribution to our Class Gift and you attacked head on an issue wherby the Corps of Cadets was not recieiving adequate time to address incoming freshmen as to the values of being in the Corps of Cadets. You went directly to the Vice President of Student Affairs and gained his support to address this issue. As was your way of doing things in life, you wasted no time and took action. You are a liflong friend and inspiration to your Classmates. Our time together in April will always be remembered.God bless you friend. Get things organized in heaven so that when the rest of your Classmates join you we can continue our legacies in good style.
