Maria,
I am very saddened to read that you are gone. I knew something was wrong when I had not heard from you in awhile.
You will always be remembered as an Angel and a good friend. You were one of the most decent, gracious and humble people I ever had the privilege of knowing. I'm sure you touched many others lives in the same way you touched mine.
We shall do french food together in Heaven as we did many times on Earth. Forgive me for not being there when you passed.
Love,
Mike

Maria and I have been friends since Jan 1976. We were roommates in College and housemates after graduation. Maria was the maid of honor at my wedding. I have met many of Maria's cousins as she has met mine. We were talking about building the discotheques in our houses, about growing old together. I am still in shock and mourning for Maria's death. But our faith are strong, we were talking about Maria's mission was done in this Earth as per my religion Buddhism, she was paid off on her debts in this life. Love you Maria, I am still crying daily but I know that God has plan for you. Christine

Well heck, what is there to say that hasn't been said about a dear friend who has left the world both brighter by her presence and diminished by her departure?
OK, I'll try.
After 25 years of not even exchanging a Christmas card, Maria and I met again at our CNR reununion and did we ever have a great time! We talked and talked in the Maura living room, and all the rest of the pikers needed to go to bed, but not Maria and me! We grabbed a cab and headed to one of New Rochelle's exotic night spots, where we proceeded to play pool and wax philosophically about many compelling subjects.
Maria was a while lot of fun.
I miss her. Thanks, Christine, both for your loving care of Maria as well as for keeping the CNR crowd in her loop.
Much love.
Eternal rest, Maria, and I pray that your family will be consoled by our dear Lord during this crushing period of time.

I met Maria the first day I arrived at Hope Lodge in New York City. I came from Oklahoma to Hope Lodge to care for my daughter Deanna. I immediately felt Maria was very special. Her smile and gentle spirit helped me overcome the fear of our being alone in New York fighting a terrible disease and unknown future. Over the next four weeks Maria and I had many conversations and I knew my first impression of her had been correct. My daughter passed away June 3, 2010. Maria was the last person I spoke with the morning I left New York. She hugged and kissed me goodbye and said "Do not worry my friend, Deanna is in a wonderful place today and I'll see her soon". Maria knew she didn't have much time left but she used that time wisely. She never complained, always upbeat and encourging to others. Deanna, Jeffrey, Gerry and now Maria are together again,in heaven enjoying all the blessings we are promised by our Lord and Savior. We'll all meet again someday. Rest in peace Maria.

Oh, Maria, you are such a dear friend! We first met at JHS and have continued as great friends throughout the years. So many nice memories, so many adventurous stories you told that always amazed me! You loved your New York City and the worldwide travel, but still remained loyal to your friends and family at home. Even when you were not feeling well, you gave the gift of an amazing final memory together at a NYC wine and cheese place you knew I'd never experience if not shared with you! Your bravery and faith in your final days assured me you were going to be fine....on butterfly wings to the next adventure that we might know someday, but in typical Maria fashion, you were ahead of the rest of us, so you will already be there to welcome us. Thank you, my friend...you are still with us in our hearts and that is forever. Love, Jul

I met Maria the first year I had confirmed as a Roman Catholic at a fascinating Catholic bible study that St. Ignaitus sponsored up in the upstate New York area.
I instantly was taken by her charm, wit, intelligence and caring lovely ways..
She was one of the few people that did not have a judgmental bone in her body...
I will truly miss her.

Maria and I had a lot of fun times together-plays, jazz clubs, dinners, single parties and some travel. Three of us traveled to France together and I visited her in Shanghai when she was consulting at a firm there. I had a great time with her in China and truly got to know her more intimately over a wonderful drunken chicken and noodle dinner in the hotel restaurant in Tian. I am truly heart broken and will miss her. The world has lost one of its good ones. Rest in peace my dear friend. Love you !!!

Cousin Maria,
You will be missed by your family and all those whose lives you have touched, including mine. Although our correspondence started more in our later years and then it was usually around the holidays and sometimes in between, it will be the visits here to Michigan that will always be remembered the most. The conversations of catch-up were always fun and informative and you never had nothing but kind words and thoughts to add during those times. You were truly one of God's Angels in the work you did and the life you led. Your were always soft spoken and cheerful and your smile seem to radiate that kind loving person I knew you to be. I know that you are now at peace and another angel has been welcomed home into the arms of Our loving Father in Heaven. With love, thoughts and prayers, Your cousin, Deb Huhn

Maria and I were friends from age 6, and in my childhood memories we are always running, climbing, or swinging. In the winter we loved sledding. What I remember most isn’t going down the hill but climbing back up, because instead of trudging up the hill like most kids, Maria would always run back up the hill with her sled. In my memory I am always behind her. Even as an adult, Maria never seemed to get tired. She loved travel, she loved her city, she loved discussing ideas. She loved her friends. Godspeed, Maria. Someday I’ll catch up.

My dear friend Maria gave of herself to life. She loved life and meeting people all over the world. Maria welcomed everyone into her heart with warmth and keen interest. And as such, was very much loved by all her many friends...and she had many! This was her gift for all of us left behind..to continue to live and to love... our friends and family.
Thank you Maria..you are already missed!

Maria is true to her namesake and was lifted up to heaven by Mary herself. I dreamt this the night that she died.
She is now a shining star in heaven where she deserves to be! She and I shared common interests in international human resources, Irish heritage, and we both spoke french and loved international travel and intellectual discussions. We had some great times in D.C. and New York. The memories will keep her spirit alive for me until I am able to join her dance. Maria, know that you are greatly loved.

I was just missing Maria at the class reunion in July. She was a sweet, smart, friendly student in high school. I only saw her once after graduation, but remember that she had met her goal of working on the international level. I am sad to learn of Maria's death, but KNOW she is in heaven.

Maria: So many happy memories are dancing in my head - from our elementary/jr. high years at St. Pete's, the DOK in High School, to our trips to NYC where you showed Steve and I the hot spots. It has truly been an honor to be your friend throughout the different stages of our life. May you be at peace now in heaven knowing you were loved so very much.

Maria and I crossed paths with Jesus... In the 1990s, at the Emmanuel Prayer group in New York city where she was coming regularly and where we first met... Then at our parish, St. Ignatius Loyola...
I had the blessing to see Maria last August. She blessed me with a very long visit. We had a very profound exchange. She was completely peaceful and pure of heart. She seemed completely fine and normal, and was already radiating the holiness she now contemplates: peace, joy, wisdom that will brighten the rest of my journey on this earth. Her smiles sums it up and we will always remember it. She was already an angel in this life.

Maria,
You are where all angels should be with God in heaven. I will always remember the smile that would light up the room, a smile from the heart. That smile that from a young girl at SSPP school to later in life when you saw an old school friend, you would know that the smile meant a remembered time, a funny story, or a heartful welcome. Rest in Peace
