Dear Rogerson Family and friends,
I met Carol Rogerson when his son, Jim and I were in 1st or 2nd grade. We were in a wonderful father/son organization called “Indian Guides”. From that early age, I still remember his whit and humor and that’s one of the things that I immediately liked about him. He was soft spoken and always had a kind word to say. I recall him teaching our group (the “Blackhawk Tribe”) things about camping, life and various words of wisdom.
On one of my many visits to the Rogerson home, I remember Carol sitting in his chair in the family room reading the Bible. I asked him what he was reading and then the inevitable question, “why?” He just smiled and told me an analogy I could relate to even at my age of approx. 8 or 9 years old. He said that the bible tells us that we are never alone and that God is always with us. That way, if I were lost, I need not be afraid since He is always there to guide us and that reading the Bible reminds us of this. That teaching and memory still remains with me after all these years.
Carol also became a good friend of my father and that is something I’m also grateful for. I have two other fond memories to share. Once, while canoeing down the Mohican River in OH, Mr. Rogerson and Jim’s brother Steve were way ahead of us on the river. Suddenly and to our great surprise, he and Steve dropped from an over-hanging tree doing a chilling Indian yell and landing with a huge splash next to us in the canoe! It scared the dickens out of us at first but we all laughed and it remains a great memory.
Another, more subtle example of his humor was when we were at one of his many nursing homes and Carol was talking with an elderly lady. She asked him what he was doing there (apparently unaware of who he was). His reply was that he was looking for the man in the picture on the wall and as he pointed to it, he asked her if she had seen him. The man in the picture was him! I thought that was hysterical and it still makes me laugh.
There are so many things I’d like to say but most of you know what a kind, loving and gentle man he was. Just think about all the many lives he touched in such a positive way! We all know how much he loved his wife, Mary and his family. What a wonderful long life he lived. He will truly be missed by all that were blessed to have known him.
Sincerely,
Chris Klinetob,
Austin, TX

When I think of Uncle Carol,I think of Aunt Mary. They were two of the most generpou, loving, and accepting people I have had the honor of knowing. I remember the first time Roger took me to the "Rogerson Retreat" to meet them. I was new to the family and quite nervous. Uncle Carol and Aunt Mary allowed that feeling to last all of five minutes. That was twenty-three years ago now and I have been blessed by their love and friendship since that first, sunny day at the on their beautiful lake. Ameret,Kaitlyn, and I send our love and sympathy to all our family. We miss and love you all. Jill,Ameret, and Kate Carlson September 25,2010

Dear Rogerson Family:
Our family enjoyed your Dad and Mom when we stayed many summers in the Park's house next door. Our children always looked forward to feeding the ducks & geese corn with Carol. We later enjoyed seeing them both when we had our restaurant in Bemus Point. Your Dad always took the time to stop and chat when he saw us around town. We know that he was so very proud of all of you. May all the memories keep you strong...
