Mrs. Gill, I would like to extend my sympathy to you and your family. I played one year of Midget football with Tim, Terry was a softball teammate after high school, knew Tom from the weight room at the YMCA and I played basketball with Butch 2-3 times a week for a couple of years. I moved out of New York State in early 1975 and didn't learn of Butch's passing until many years later. I think of him often. Your sons are a wonderful testament to you and George. husband

I remember George very well. I lived at 44 George Ave from 1947 to 1954 in my teen years. I used to talk to him when he worked in his yard & I would be walking by. He seemed to me to be a "Gentle Giant", very friendly & over all a nice man. I no longer live in the Jamestown area but I have fond memories of the town & its people.

George, or Grandpa George to me, is one of my ultimate role models. I would spend my summers with my own Grandparents, but while they were working Shirley and George took care of me. I remember baking rhubarb pie with Shirley and greeting George in the driveway after his daily round of golf. He would go upstairs to clean up while Shirley and I continued to work in the kitchen or finish up a craft at the table. He would walk down those back steps soooo softly so we couldn't hear, those steps were terribly creaky, and peek down at us with his index finger pointed out at me. That was our joke, he would point and smile while I beamed back. June 2009 right after I graduated from college was the last time I saw George, even though Parkinson's Disease had taken over his body, he lifted his hand and pointed his finger at me with the widest grin ever. I told him about my recent accomplishment and the pride that washed over his face was all that it took to reduce me to tears. I will never forget him, George was a loving, compassionate, and mischievous man. He will always be my "Grandpa George".
