To Sandy, Lynn, David,John,Tom
Both Dick & I was so sad to hear of your Mom's death. We just learned about it last night when I talked to Sandy.
We first met your Mom & Dad thru Newcomers in the early 70's and had been great friends ever since.
We have such wonderful memories of both your Mom & Dad. Our many trips to Mrytle Beach when all the children were young, our many golfing
outings, trips to Vegas, and the many get togethers we had after we left Lakewood, the kids weddings,Fla.,the lake house just so many memories we all have. We will miss not being able to just visit with LeVerne, She and Dick could talk for hours about business and the stock market.
She was a great friend who we loved and both of us will miss her dearly.
Our prayers and thoughts are with the whole family at this time.

Laverne was such a happy, bright, and kind person. It was such a joy to share our love of "singing" in both the regular choir and the folk group. We spent our summers-for many years-- watching our kids (her John and our Rick)--play baseball--at least twice a week. With choir, Church and kids, we must have seen each other 3 times a week for many years.
I learned a great deal from her. She had a different perspective on things. Always made you think.
She loved her family deeply and was a supportive and caring parent. She always loved talking about her kids and grand kids. She was always focused, hard working, always generous with both her time and money, and always kind. I am sure God is saying of her life "well done, good and faithful servant".

I was so sad to hear that such a great lady died. She really did put up a good fight and while I did not know her personally her charm and personality was passed on to me through the Allens. She had a voice that you can't forget. If there's a casino in heaven then she's found it!

I am totally unrelated and live at great distance from LaVerne, and yet, I shall miss her very much. I knew her through her dear friend, Rose, and whenever we were together I enjoyed her caring and friendly character. She always made me feel welcome. She lived her life with such gusto, many, many people will miss her. How come nobody ever told me that she was the choir director at Sacred Heart? Yet another side of this amazing woman. Love and prayers, LaVerne.

Although I only worked in the office at Tac-Mac for six months, I was fortunate to have had the opportunity to get to know Laverne and her family on a more personal basis. Laverne was a truly admirable and hardworking woman, and generous beyond words. She raised very kind and caring children who were also a pleasure to work with.
My sympathy to the entire family and may Laverne rest in peace.

I met your Mom when I was in church after moving to our house on Oak St. When Father Joe said in the announcements that the choir was looking for new members, I turned around and saw your Mom in the choir loft. I went up and I joined the choir and have been a member for 20 years. I remember your Mom telling about her Mr. & Mrs. Santa Collection and I remember her saying that your father started her collecting Mr. & Mrs. Santa Claus. The choir had great fun finding the Mr. & Mrs. Claus for LaVerne. You are in my thoughts and prayers. Peace be to all of you. I believe that your loved ones who are no longer with you have the ear of God and God and your loved ones are watching over you. God Bless You All.

I have been with Foote Ave. McDonalds for 3 years. In those three years I got to know Ms. Laverne and felt a very strong connection with her. On April 21, 2010 I went into remission beyond all my doctors' beliefs. My managers and crew had surprised me with a cake and balloons. Ms. Laverne was ther too, with a huge bouquet of tulips. She will never know how much her being there meant to me. Tulips will forever make me think of her. A wonderful, sweet woman I will always hold a special place in my heart for. You will be greatly missed Ms. Laverne!
Love always-Sarajo

Forty years of friendship were what we had. Laverne was so good to all my family and all have always been so fond of her and now the grandchildren are feeling the same way.
We will miss her so both here and in Florida. We so looked forward to her arrival in Florida , out would come the golf clubs and the road to the casino would be heavily traveled.
We all so loved her.

My parents, Keith and Loretta Shattuck, were friends of Jerry and LaVerne since the early 1970's. The friendship between LaVerne and Mom continued strong after both husband's deaths, fueled by their love of playing bridge, and winning. The Meyers have always been so generous through the years to our entire family. Most recently on Valentine's Day this year my sister passed away. As the family gathered at Mom's, LaVerne brought over her hot and yummy casserole to feed the clan. It was touching, as she has had her own health battle she was waging, but did not let that get her down. She will be so sadly missed all around town, and especially at the bridge tables in Lakewood and Jamestown. Our thoughts and prayers go to the entire family.

I have traveled with LaVerne many miles from Casino Niagara to Seneca Casino and even a couple of trips to the Tropicana in Atlantic City, NJ.
She will never forgive me for the time we nearly ran out of gas on the way to Atlantic City. She had that nervous chatter going the whole way in search of a gas station. I don't think she took a breath until she saw the gas pumps! Then on the way back the same thing happened. I waited to long and nearly ran out of gas again. She wanted to strangle me.
We swapped books all the time.
I enjoyed LaVerne's company very much.
We shared some fun times together.
I will miss her dearly.
