Obituary of LaVerne M. Meyers

LaVerne Meyers (Eveslage), 75, of Lakewood, died Monday at WCA hospital. LaVerne, daughter of Frances and Fred Eveslage, was born September 21, 1935 in St. Cloud, Minnesota where she spent her childhood. She graduated Salutatorian of her class at Cathedral High School and went on to spend a year at St. Cloud State College. She was married to Jerome (Jerry) Meyers in 1959. LaVerne and Jerry owned Tac Mac, Inc., a group of McDonald's Restaurants which she continued to run actively after Jerry's death in 2000. Within the McDonald's organization, LaVerne was BOMAC Co-op Vice President and received 2 Ronald Awards for community work. She was active in local groups all her life and held offices in many organizations including WCA Foundation and PTA. LaVerne loved her parish, Sacred Heart, and directed the choir there for 40 years, receiving the Sacred Heart Servant Award. LaVerne contributed to many causes including the Lakewood Library, Southwestern Central School athletic field renovations, and the Chautauqua Avenue Renovation. She especially enjoyed golf-at Moon Brook Country Club and in Florida-- and playing slot machines. LaVerne was preceded in death by her sister, Doreen Friebe, and her brother, Jerome Eveslage. She has five children, Sandra Snabl, Lynn Trathen (both of Lakewood), Dave Meyers (Allegany), John Meyers (Melbourne, Florida) and Thomas Meyers (Lakewood). She has fourteen grandchildren who will miss her very much: Michael and Robert Meyers; Jerome, Reagan, Caroline and Mary Meyers; Elizabeth and Peter Trathen; and Emmeline, Isabelle and Julia Meyers. She was very fond of her daughters- and sons-in-law: David Trathen, Melissa (Anderson) Meyers, Billie Jean (Long) Meyers, Heather (Dracup) Meyers and Eric Snabl. She will be missed terribly by her best friend, Rosemary Allen. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday, October 22nd at Sacred Heart Church. She will be interred at Sunset Hill Cemetery. All friends and family are invited to lunch at Chautauqua Lake Yacht Club in Lakewood following the burial. Visiting hours will be at Lind funeral home Thursday, October 21st from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. where a Christian Wake Service will be led at 1:45. A memorial fund has been established to benefit the WCA Emergency Room. The Meyers family asks that Memorial Gifts be made to the "LaVerne M. Meyers Memorial Fund" at the W.C.A. Foundation, P.O.
