Obituary of Roy C. Bertch
Roy C. Bertch, 68, of the Heritage Village Retirement Campus in Gerry, formerly of Pittsford, NY, died Monday, November 1, 2010 in WCA Hospital of Parkinson Disease and pneumonia.
An area resident since 2008, he was born November 15, 1941 in Rochester, a son of the late Earl and Elsie Missel Bertch, and graduated from Webster High School in 1959. He also graduated from New York State Rangers School in 1968.
He was a member of the Heat & Frost Insulators Union Local 26 for over 10 years before taking a withdrawal to become self-employed full time. Since he was a young boy, Roy had been an antique automobile tuner for cars manufactured from 1907 to 1935. He was also a member of the Rolls Royce Owners Club where he served as a technical advisor.
Roy was a member of the Gerry Free Methodist Church.
Surviving are his wife, Nancy Rossman Bertch whom he married December 18, 1971; an adopted son, William M. Bertch of Lakeville, NY and foster daughter, Lori (Brad) Stevenson of Bristol, NY; son-in-law, Eric Shelp of Henrietta, NY; grandchildren, Cody Bertch and Nicholas Newton, both of Scottsville, NY and Joshua Shelp of Henrietta; two brothers, Nelson (Sharon) Bertch of Webster, NY and Alan Bertch of Hilton, NY; and many other relatives and wonderfully close friends.
A memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, November 12 at Seeley Auditorium in the basement of Schwab Manor at the Heritage Village Retirement Campus. Friends will be received for hour prior to the service.
