Obituary of Janice K. Rogerson
Janice Korcyl Rogerson, 67, of 171 High Acres, Bemus Point passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, December 23, 2010 following a lengthy battle with Alzheimer's Disease.
She was born January 12, 1943 in Jamestown, a daughter of Sophia Evanczik Korcyl and the late Stanley J. Korcyl.
Janice was the wife of her husband of 48 years, Robert D. Rogerson whom she married June 29, 1963.
She was a 1961 graduate of Bemus Point Central School.
In earlier years, she was employed by the Metropolitan Insurance Co. She then worked for the former Bankers Trust Co., which became Key Bank, for 26 years until her retirement.
For 36 years Janice was a parishioner of Our Lady of Loreto Catholic Church in Falconer where she served as a Eucharistic Minister and was active in the Altar and Rosary Society. She has been a parishioner of St. Mary of Lourdes Catholic Church in Bemus Point for 8 years.
She loved flower gardening, both at home and over the years at Our Lady of Loreto Church. Janice enjoyed bowling, roller skating, singing and was an avid dancer who particularly like to polka. She especially enjoyed serving as mistress of ceremony at family and friends' weddings and events. Janice was very fond of travel and bus tours.
Her greatest joy though was her grandchildren and spending time with her family.
In addition to her husband, surviving is her mother of Bemus Point; a daughter, Lisa J. (Tony) Genco of Falconer; two sons, Jon R. (Lisa) Rogerson of Falconer and Patrick D. (Julie) Rogerson of Fredonia; three grandchildren, Colton Howard, Casey Rogerson and Finley Rogerson; a step-grandson, A.J. Genco; four sisters: Lorraine (Angelo) Alaimo of Spartanburg, SC, Sue (John) Rasmussen of Jamestown, and Marcia (Kim) Rambacher and Virginia (Larry) Hallberg, both of Bemus Point; three brothers: Ed (Becky) Korcyl and Greg (Beth) Korcyl, both of Bemus Point and Tom (Kathy) Korcyl of Ashville, NY; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father on January 3, 1998 and parents-in-law, Henry and Molly Rogerson.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary of Lourdes Catholic Church in Bemus Point. The Rev. Todd Remick and the Rev, John Kuhlmann will be celebrants. Burial will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday in the Lind Funeral Home, where a Christian Wake Service will be led at 3:30 p.m.
