Obituary of Helen S. Anderson
Helen S. Anderson, 93, of 120 Aldren Avenue, died Saturday January 1, 2011, in Hultquist Place Assisted Living.
She was born September 25, 1917, in Brooklyn, NY, a daughter of Wilhelm and Anna Ohman Sundstrom.
She was employed by the former Jamestown Telephone Company as an assignment clerk.
She was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church, Mayville for over 70 years.
She was past president of the former Diana Lodge of the Independent Order of Vikings and the Viking Male Chorus Auxiliary. She was a member of the Red Hatters and volunteered at the Lutheran Home for many years.
Surviving are two sons John E. Anderson of Lakewood and Greger C. (Peggy) Anderson of Harpswell, ME; three grandsons Paul B. Anderson of Brentwood, TN, Erik G. Anderson of Freeport, ME and Stephen G. Anderson of San Francisco, CA and five great grandchildren Courtney, Dalton, Conrad, Gustaf and Leopold Anderson.
She was preceded in death by her husband B. Gustaf Anderson, whom she married June 26, 1938 in New York City, and who died January 29, 1999, a sister Nancy Straight and a brother Eric Sundstrom.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday in Christ Chapel of the Lutheran Retirement Home. Rev. Daniel S. Rumfelt will officiate.
Burial will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery.
Visitation will not be observed.
