Grandpa, though you may not of knew it, all my friends loved you just as much as i did. They saw how much you cared about me, and them and of course grandma. I never wanted to say goodbye. I love you, John Richard.

dad, this is your "daughter in law" as you would call me often, and most often when you wanted me to give you a hug or something to eat that you weren't supposed to have MORE of! I gave in a couple times but often tried to humor you out of thinking about it!!! That gruff exterior never fooled me at all! You were a big softie inside and that was just a layer to keep all the fluff from blowing away! Just so you don't think I really was ever scared of you!! and yes i did so enjoy our little battles of the will! You were sooo fun to argue with. We are both stubborn and that is why it was so fun: who wants to aregue with someone who won't argue back or just agree, am i right?? don't fight with me about it, haha! What I will remember most is the way you loved our children. They were precious to you beyond anything. They felt it believe me and this is very hard for them. You are gonna have to join my mom and be a guardian angel now for them. That is something that they will need in this world cause they will be more and more out there soon... We are all so very blessed to have had you in our lives and to have all these memories of you and john and the kids at all the family events, birthdays, holidays and games. I was always impressed by your will to live no matter how crappy you felt. i hope you know that now. johnny put it right when he said, "grandpa didn't do anything super special or give me any big gifts; he was just always there.... That pretty much sums it up... and what is more important in this life??? Love you and miss you, daughter in law

Today we have to say goodbye to you Dad. It really seems impossible to do. You were the best dad anybody could ask for....always there for us and always full of love. Jacob was so lucky to have you in his life and we will make sure to remind him of how much you loved him and how important he was to you. I know you worried about missing out on watching him grow up but I know you are in heaven watching over him. Please don't worry about mom. We will take care of everything for her and make sure she's okay. So until we see each other again, we will miss you more than we can say. Love you Dad.

John, my big brother always looking out for me and protecting me when I was a kid.
No one could ask for a better brother. You are leaving a big hole in our family that no one can fill. You were a good son, brother, husband, father and grandfather and we will all miss you terribly. We’ll miss our breakfasts out and our rides after. Don’t worry about Pat because you have amazing kids and Brian and I to look out for her. She is a special person with an inner strength that she doesn’t even know she has. See you on the other side.
Love,
Your sister

Anyone who knew John knew that he kept a rough exterior hiding one of the softest hearts around. He loved his family and his wife very deeply, and I heard him more than once declare that Pat was his angel. I'm sure he will be sorely missed.

I will always remember every time I seen him, saying, "well hello niece, how are you feeling". So very thoughtful, with all his health issues, he was always thinking of everyone else. He will be greatly missed.
