Ed provided for my mother -
- provided warmth during cold winters
- a snow blower to her and our neighbors
- a friend at work
- a loving companion during their shared time in Florida and from afar when necessary
- a laughing and loving grandpa to her grandma
- a surprise hug & affectionate words during family Christmas mornings, manned from his rocking chair in between rounds of gifts and mimosas
We'll miss him, 'thanks for coming' into our lives.
Justin

Dear Claudia, I am very sorry to hear about Ed’s passing. When I had visited you the first time in Jamestown and you had introduced your family, I remember you had recalled all that Ed had done for you. It is very sad that a man with so much love should have been ill for so long. My condolences. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

Ed Leavens – A good man with a heart of gold. A man who absolutely adored his grandchildren. A meticulous man who took great pride in his many accomplishments. A strong man who was taken from this life too soon. A man who will forever live on in the hearts and minds of those who had the pleasure of knowing him.

I did the payroll for the telephone company and worked there 12 years. Ed made me laugh all the time and we use to go out with a group and have fun in North Syracuse when we moved up there with the phone company. He was a joy and I know you will miss him but God will hold up and be your comfort.

Claudia,
Our memories of Ed go way back to the 1970's when we worked at that time for Mid-Continet telephone in Fulton, NY. There was a time that Me, Lou Seely, brother Rick, and Ed were on a mens bowling league. Then in the late 70's and early 80's we all had to play softball for PAP's (Phoenix Auto Parts)We never were the best but we all had a great time and developed a great friendship. I met you through Ed with the phone company in Jamestown. Not long after all of our lives were turned around thanks to Alltel. We lost touch which was a shame. Ed and I spoke a few times after that dreaded announcement in 1993 that we were to move or lose our job. I'm rambling on now so I'll cut it short and once again express our deepest sympathy.
Reid and Janet.

I remember Ed for his perfect smile which was usually followed by a lightheated chuckle or fullblown laughter. Although I knew him a few brief years from Alltel his memory will live on forever. My deepest sympathy to his family.

I think the most evident asset was his complete and neverending love for my mommy. Even during his last few days, it was so important to him to make sure that SHE was okay. I think one of my favorite memories of Ed was when he and mom came to Minnesota for Christmas one year. We had a rousing game of Cranium. There were 6 people playing and each and every one of us were in tears laughing so hard. I will NEVER forget Ed's laugh.
