Obituary of Adelaide Baggiano
Adelaide Mazzone Baggiano, 85, of 50 School St. WE passed away Friday, February 4, 2011 in WCA Hospital, surrounded by her family.
She was born August 8, 1925 in Jamestown, a daughter of the late Joseph and Serafina Spedaro Mazzone.
Adelaide was a 1943 graduate of Jamestown High School and received her certification as a Medical Technologist in 1945 at the Northwest Institute of Minneapolis.
She began her career at the former Jamestown General Hospital, followed by several years at WCA Hospital as a lab technician.
Following her years at WCA, Adelaide worked for several area physicians in various capacities.
Adelaide was active in the Altar & Rosary Society at St. James and Sacred Heart Churches.
A devoted wife, mother and grandmother, Adelaide was always willing to support her family in all of their needs and with a smile. She loved gardening, cooking, knitting, shopping and reading.
Surviving are her husband of 59 years, Carl Baggiano; daughters Donna (Pat) Charest of Bemus Point and Carleen (Mike) Gilevski of Pennfield, NY; four grandchildren, Todd (Kim) Charest, Patrick Charest, Alissa (Lee) Wilson and Michael Gilevski; two great-grandsons, Max and Alex Charest; a brother, Thomas (Mildred) Mazzone of Auburn, AL; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Lucy Mula.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Lakewood. Msgr. Joseph M. Dowdell will be celebrant. Entombment will be in the Holy Sepulchre Cemetery Mausoleum.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday in the Lind Funeral Home, where a Christian Wake Service will be held at 1:45 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Hospice Chautauqua County, 20 W. Fairmount Ave., Lakewood, NY 14750.
