Obituary of Dena M. Lander
Dena M. Lander, 83, of Aurora, Ohio, died Tuesday, February 8, 2011 in Ohio.
She was born June 23, 1927 in Portland, NY, a daughter of the late Ralph and Alice Hart Fuller, and grew up in Bemus Point.
Dena graduated from Fredonia State College with her teaching degree and taught school in Ohio for a number of years. She later served for many years as a social worker dedicated to rehabilitation in Cuyahoga and Geauga Counties in Ohio and Chautauqua County in New York.
Dena returned to Bemus Point in the mid 1980's and following the loss of her mother in 1991 moved back to the Cleveland area.
A great appreciator of music, she loved attending the opera at Chautauqua Institution. Dena was also a lifelong New York Yankees fan.
She is survived by her husband, John Lander of Willoughby Hills, OH; a son, David (Mindy) Rashley of Howard, OH and daughter, Ann (Chuck) Kilby of Shalersville, OH; two grandchildren, Heathyr (David) Ullmo of Stow, OH and David (Anna) Rashley Jr. of Fredericktown, OH; and four great-grandchildren, Joshua, Caleb, Ellianna and Gideon Rashley.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, David Fuller and sister, Susan Fuller.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday in St. Mary of Lourdes Catholic Church in Bemus Point. The Rev. Todd Remick will be celebrant. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Portland.
Friends will be received from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday in the Lind Funeral Home, where a Christian Wake Service will be led at 6:45 p.m.
