Obituary of Elizabeth J. Bailey

Elizabeth J. "Libby" Bailey, 76, formerly of 25 Grandview Ave., Lakewood died at 11:45 p.m. Tuesday, March 29, 2011 at Heritage Green Rehab & Skilled Nursing. She was the widow of Gaylord J. "Brud" Bailey whom she married August 9, 1968 and who died April 19, 1997. Libby was born March 15, 1935 in Jamestown, a daughter of the late George A. Siggins and Lucy Shaw Siggins Hammerstrom and graduated from the former Celoron High School. In earlier years she had been employed as a type setter by the Post Journal and later worked as bookkeeper for her late husband's business, Bailey Refrigeration. She attended New Creation Assembly of God and had belonged to the Lakewood Memorial Post 1286 American Legion Auxiliary and Maplehurst Country Club. A loving mother and grandmother, Libby enjoyed family time and in earlier years taking her children to church retreats. She had also enjoyed golf and bowling over the years. Surviving are three children: Cyndi Bailey of Guys Mills, PA, James P. (Susan) Bailey of Maple Springs and Jon M. (Megan) Bailey of Sherman Oaks, CA; three grandchildren: Jessica Yurick of California, Stephanie "Lee" Yurick of Guys Mills, PA and Kaleigh Bailey of Maple Springs; three sisters: Carolyn Kingsbury of Randolph, Georgia Riley of Indiana and Lucy Arnone of West Ellicott; a sister-in-law, Joan Gustafson of Canajoharie, NY: and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Karl Gustafson. The funeral will be held at 11:00 Monday in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. William Blair will officiate. Burial will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday and for one hour prior to the service in the funeral home Monday.
