My condolences to the entire family. Jim, you were so influential in my life way back when. I'm sure I never told you that. I am also sure you knew it just the same. I hold fond memories of the early days in Elmhurst...the summer evenings on the porch...you, Peg, Lynda, me, Kim, Darla, Boody all doing whatever came to mind, enjoying each other's company and driving you and Peg crazy, I'm sure (although you never showed it!). I will never forget those times and the patience you had with us. All of us "kids" were pretty crazy then! You always took it in stride. You are one of the nicest people I have ever known and will be missed. May you now eternally rest in peace.

Grandpa,
The one lesson you always taught me was to be myself, and love me for who I am. "Don't let anyone bring you down.. you're better than that" you told me once because I was upset. I'll never forget those words and I take them with me every single day. I feel privileged to have had you in my life for the last 28 years.. and I'm lucky to have had you as my grandpa. I love you to the moon..

I flew to New York to attend your service and to say goodbye. Due to a last minute date change for your service,I will not be able to attend as I fly back home in the morning before your service. I was deeply saddened by this as I loved you so much and wanted to be here to say goodbye. Tonight I was truly blessed to have been able to see you and sit with you for over an hour. You are so handsome in your suit and looked so much at peace! God knew how much this meant to me as I did get to say goodbye and tell you how I loved you so much.

Grandpa,
I dont even know where to begin... its getting harder everyday. I miss you so much! Grandpa, You mean the world to me. You raised me up to be who I am today with strong values and beliefs. I'm so thankful for all the love you have provided me.
We have so many memories together. I will never forget planting "our" special flowers (you with your wheel barrel and me following right beside you with mine). :) The laughs we shared about the chicken and the fish, the walks we took to the lake, the stories, the advice you gave me on the porch swing. I wanted to be just like Grandpa; he would come home from work and I would never want him to leave. I would take and hide his shoes thinking if he didn't have them he could stay home with me. :) I would dress in his clothes and hats because I wanted to be a fireman and save people lives just like Grandpa. A great man to not only to me but an amazing husband to his "Peggy" and great father to all his children.
I look up to you and I am truly blessed to have had you walk me down the isle on my wedding day. I love you today, I love you tomorrow and I will love you forever.
Love,
Your Jenny

The Coin
Into my heart's treasury
I slipped a coin,
That time cannot rust
Nor a thief purloin;
Oh better than the minting
Of a gold-crowned king
Is the safe-kept memory
Of a lovely thing.

May your memories help to
see you through at this difficult time......

To My Gramps:
All of the stories and laughter we shared on your porch in New York and in Florida will always remain in my heart. I am so fortunate that God picked a wonderful Gramps for me. I am sorry that I will not be able to say my last goodbye, as this was not my choice. But it doesn't matter because I have told you many times how much I loved you. So I will see you on the flipside and I am toasting you a Wild Turkey Goodbye :) I will Love You Always,
Malis

My Dearest Grandpa,
The memories I have of all the times we spent together from coffee, bingo, swap shopping, family holiday's at my house or my mom's in Florida will last forever. You will always have a special place in my heart, you were the only grandfather I ever knew, as you have been there for me since the beginning of my life and I am so sorry that what would have been my last goodbye to you was taken away from me as I flew here to say goodbye to you. But I know in my heart the bond that we shared as Grandfather to Granddaughter can never be broken. I was truly blessed by God to have had you in my life. I will love you always!

TWO HEARTS:
Two hearts we were as one on Earth,
Two hearts that were entwined,
My love for you was ever strong,
Now you love inside my mind.
Your lovely life just slipped away,
That life so full of zest!
Your twinkling eyes got weary,
Your beating heart took rest.
I know you've gone to Heaven,
From Earth you slipped away.
But faith in you my dearest Lord
Keeps me strong each day.
Two hearts once beat together,
Now one beats all alone.
I know one day we'll meet Dear Lord,
The day you call me home.
Love,
Peggy

A Garden
Our Grandpa kept a garden.
A garden of the heart;
He planted all the good things,
That gave our lives their start.
He turned us to the sunshine, And encouraged us to dream: Fostering and nurturing the seeds of self-esteem.
And when the winds and rain came,
He protected us enough;
But not too much because he knew
We would stand up strong and tough.
His constant good example,
Always taught us right from wrong;
Markers for our pathway that will last
a lifetime long.
We are Grandpa's garden,
We are his legacy.
His memory will last forever
In our HEARTS he will always be.
We love you Grandpa!
Jen, Kristy and Bill.
