Obituary of Joseph F. Rzucek

Joseph F. Rzucek, 52, of 17 Myers Ave. Jamestown, NY passed away unexpectedly at 6:40 p.m. Monday (May 23, 2011) in his home. An area resident for most of his life he was born August 6, 1958 in Salamanca, NY a son of Joann Frank Rzucek Phillips and the late Frank J. Rzucek. Joe was a 1976 graduate of Salamanca High School and was a graduate of Jamestown Business College. He was employed by Wilson Farms Inc. where he had worked for 30 years managing several area stores. He was currently the manager of the Hazeltine Ave. store in Jamestown. In earlier years he had worked for the Woolworth Store and Zales Jewelry Store in the Chautauqua Mall. He will be remembered as a loving and caring husband, son, and brother who loved to spend time cooking and camping at the Forest Haven Campground. He also loved to work in his garden and do landscaping. He was also an avid antique collector and loved playing with his dogs. Surviving are his wife the former Terri Harnish whom he married August 20, 1983, his mother Joann Phillips and step father James J. Phillips of Great Valley, NY, a sister Debbie (Merritt) Letson of Salamanca, a brother Jeff (Brenda) Rzucek of London Ontario, Canada, his nieces and nephews Tim, Megan, Joshua, Michelle and Brendon and his mother in law Beatrice Harnish of Jamestown. Besides his father he was preceded in death by and infant son Christopher Ryan Rzucek who died August 5, 1987 and his father in law Daniel L. Harnish. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 28, 2011, in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. Donald E. Ray, retired chaplain of W.C.A. Hospital will officiate. Friends will be received for one hour prior to the service on Saturday in the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Chautauqua County Humane Society, 2825 Strunk Rd.
