Nanny, I dont even know where to begin I miss you so much all day everyday. I thought it was supposed to get easier, but it hasn't yet. I long for our Hallmark movie days, weekend phone calls, and every time I came home running up the stairs to see your beautiful smiling face. I miss you so much Nan and some days are better than others, but they are all pretty rough. Last night I couldn't sleep at all and all I thought of was you I realized it must be because its been 3 months today since you have been gone. I can't believe I'm actually writing those words :( I love you Nanny NN and I listen to your voicemails on my phone often just to hear your voice and for at least a moment it is like youre still here. Ill stop rambling now, but I want you to know that not a moment goes by where I dont think of you. You are one of the most amazing people I have ever known and Im lucky to have had you as my Nana. Youre always in my heart. xoxo Baby NN
PS I miss you if you didnt figure that out yet

Aunt Rose -you were always so sweet, kind and loving and you will be missed but never forgotten. You have left an amazing legacy with those 10 great kids (our cousins) who all inherited your kindness, sweetness and caring nature. We are so proud to be part of this Phelan family because of people like you and them. Thank you for showing us the real important things in life!! We are so sorry we could not be there today for you, but we know how important Holy Apostles was to you so we have made a donation in your name to keep your great work going.
May God bless you as you join him in heaven.
Love from the "Corky" Phelans
Pat, Mike, Kate, Frank, Jean, Claire and Doreen( Paul).

Dear Maureen and Doug - Sorry to hear about the passing of Rose. Rose was my father's mother's name and my daughter's middle name. If you believe you will see her again some day, it might make her loss easier. I'll say Mourner's Kaddish for her next time there are Friday night services and am going to light a memorial candle now.
Much love, Nancy

Though we are a part of Rose's extended family since my brother, Doug, married Rose's daughter, Maureen (Mo, you are as sweet and as kind as your Mom : ), Rose made everyone who entered her home feel like a part of her family.
A truly warm and wonderful woman.
Rest in Peace, Rose.

To Rose Phelan, who I called Nanny.I will always remember your kindness, your smile and I still hear your laugh clearly in my mind.
Life threw you a lot of punches, yet you always took it all with such grace and strength. That is one of the things among many that you taught me.
You always made me feel as if I were one of your many children.I always loved you as if you were my own mother. She wasn't as fortunate to have been on this earth as long as you.
You will be missed indefinitely by all the people that you have touched with your wisdom.
I love you Nanny. You are with God as you knew you would be someday. Rest in Peace.

Aunt Rose you will always be in our hearts. Your door was always open to all of us. I remember how you always invited us in after the Columban Ball to have breakfast. We'd sit, talk, laugh, sing and have a wonderful time. "May the road rise to meet you, May the wind be always at your back, may the sun shine warm upon your face, may the rains fall soft upon your fields, and until we meet again, may God hold you in the hollow of his hand. Rest in Peace Aunt Rose.

We light this candle in memory of Rose; a woman we did no have the pleasure of meeting, but who must have been a compassionate, loving woman. We know this because we know Maureen. A woman who welcomes and cares about anyone who comes into her home. Never would anyone meet a more kindhearted couple than Maureen and Doug. Bill, Billy, Gwyn and I send our deepest sympathies to you and the 'kids'.

I brought my small family out to Jamestown from Chicago to visit Rose's daughter, Maureen, and her family for a Thanksgiving holiday. This was a few years ago, but my memories are vivid. It was at Rose's home where we all gathered and we couldn't help but feel the warmth and love she is known for. We are fortunate to have met Rose Phelan. Our sympathies to all who feel her absence.

Whenever I entered Rose’s home –usually on St. Patrick’s Day – I felt as though I was stepping back into the house I grew up in. The age and design of her house was similar to the one my mother lived in until her death, as were the religious artifacts and Irish knickknacks on the walls and shelves. But what brought me home most was the presence of a woman who had devoted herself to her family, who seemed to never put herself first. Even when she was much too old to do so, Rose would station herself in the kitchen during those corned beef and cabbage dinners, doing what she could to serve her children and their friends. Rest in Peace, Rose.
