Obituary of Rose Phelan

Rose Phelan, 85, of 116 Van Buren St Jamestown, died at 11:10 AM Wednesday (June 22, 2011) at the Lutheran Home and Rehabilitation Center. She was born October 28, 1925 in Far Rockaway, NY the daughter of the late Cosmo and Julia Formicella Crovella. Rose worked in the outpatient billing department at St. Johns Hospital in Far Rockaway. Following retirement, she moved to Jamestown where she was a communicant of Holy Apostles Parish. Family was most important to Rose. Everyone who knew her loved her. She is survived by her beloved sister, Mary Phelan; her ten children, Michael Phelan; Maureen Berlin (husband Douglas); Julia Phelan; Eileen Raab (husband Jack); Theresa Phelan; Catherine DeSagun (husband Dr. Guillermo); Rosemary Horan (husband Steve); Wiliam Phelan; Robert Phelan; Edward Phelan (wife Lori); 14 grandchildren, Desiree Brody; Erin, Matthew, Michael Berlin; Katie Cavness (husband Eric); Timothy, Stephen Raab; Christina Phelan; Guillermo DeSagun; Patricia Moore (husband Jim); Robert, William Horan; Dylan, Isabella Phelan; two great grandchildren, Veronica Santos; and Elliot Cavness; and her beloved friend, Edward Sluga. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 33 years, William Francis Phelan who died January 11, 1985. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 AM Saturday at Holy Apostles Parish, St. John Catholic Church 270 Newton Ave Jamestown. The Rev. Dennis W. Mende, pastor, will be celebrant. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM Friday in the Lind Funeral Home.
