Obituary of Howard N. McIntyre

Howard N. "Mac" McIntyre, 92, of 324 Hall Ave., died at 1:50 a.m. Saturday, October 29, 2011 at Heritage Park Rehab & Skilled Nursing. A lifelong area resident, he was born October 9, 1919 in Jamestown, the son of the late Frederick A. and Emily Spencer McIntyre, and graduated from Jamestown High School in 1938. Mac was employed by the Crescent Tool Co. from 1941 to 1945, the local branch of Chris Craft from 1945 to 1947, Empire Case Goods from 1947 to 1950, Burns Case Goods from 1950 to 1957 and Dahlstrom Manufacturing from 1957 to 1958. He retired in 1985 as a sash and door maker after 27 years with Nelson Brothers Lumber. Mac then served as sexton of St. Luke's Episcopal Church for 13 years, retiring in 1997. As a member of St. Luke's, he had also served as a Vestryman and Usher Chairman. He belonged to the Lakewood Rod & Gun Club and formerly the Chautauqua Squares. In earlier years, Mac was active in Boy Scouting as Cubmaster of Pack 21, Asst. Scoutmaster of Troop 15 and Council Roundtable Commissioner. He enjoyed pheasant hunting and belonged to the 'Farmers and Sportsman Preserve' in S. Dayton during the 1960's and was an avid Muskie fisherman during the 1970's. Mac is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Felt McIntyre, whom he married October 24, 1953; three children: Cynthia J. "Cindy" Nelson of Jamestown, Deborah J. (Stephen) Moll of Powell, OH and Dale F. (Paula) McIntyre of Honeoye Falls, NY; 11 grandchildren: Eliza L. Nelson of Greensboro, NC, Ashley M. Nelson of Cincinnati, OH, Shane A., Case A. and Trey H. McIntyre of Honeoye Falls, and Emily A., PFC Tyler S., Sarah E., Kaitlynn R., Lauren N. and Jennifer G. Moll, all of Powell. The funeral will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday in St. Luke's Episcopal Church. The Rev. Eric M. Williams and the Rev. Susan Anslow Williams will officiate. Burial will be in Lake View Cemetery. Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in the Lind Funeral Home. The family suggests memorials be made to St. Luke's Episcopal Church, 410 North Main St., Jamestown, NY 14701; or to a charity of choice.
