Obituary of Charles F. Johnson
Charles F. "Charlie" Johnson, 97, of 38 Lucy Lane, Celoron, NY passed away at 7:10 a.m. Wednesday (November 23, 2011) in his home.
An area resident for most of his life he was born July 23, 1914 in Huron, OH a son of the late Charles D. and Capitola LaFaver Johnson.
Before his retirement he was employed by the former Nelson's Department Store and worked as a salesman in the rug department of the former Bigelow's Department Store.
He was a member of the Ingjald Lodge 65 Independent Order of the Vikings, the Lakewood Rod & Gun Club and the Jamestown Rotary Club. He also was a volunteer at W.C.A. Hospital for over 23 years until the age of 90. He truly enjoyed his years at W.C.A. Hospital and was honored for his many hours of service.
He will be remembered as a loving and caring man who enjoyed entertaining his many friends and family in his home. He was also an avid golfer and enjoyed his poker club friends.
Surviving are his wife the former Marilyn Limberg whom he married October 19, 1982, two step daughters Shelley (Fred) Croscut of Sherman, NY, Sharen Lawrence of Marco Island, FL, three step grandchildren Heather Croscut of Chautauqua, NY, Brent Croscut of Peru, NY, Stacey Croscut of Plattsburgh, NY and two step great grandchildren Addison and Kayla Croscut.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife the former Dorothy Franzen Johnson and a sister Fern Hallin.
The funeral will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. Violet A. Davidson, pastor of the Lakewood United Methodist Church will officiate. Burial will be in the Sunset Hill Cemetery.
Friends will be received from 4-7 p.m. Friday in the funeral home.
