Obituary of Ruth M. Gordon

Ruth M. Gordon, of 591 Hunt Rd. Lakewood, NY passed away at 5:05 p.m. Tuesday (December 27, 2011) in her home. She was the widow of William C. Gordon whom she married October 3, 1942 and who died February 10, 1988. Before her retirement she was an English teacher for the Mayville Central School System for 24 years. She was a longtime member of the Lakewood United Methodist Church and will be remembered as the "Cookie Lady", baking dozens of cookies for many events. Surviving are a daughter Susan A. Gordon-Brainard of Conewango Valley, NY, two son's Dr. William C. Gordon of New Orleans, LA, Robert E. Gordon of Ocala, FL., five grandchildren, four great grandchildren and a sister Jean Moore of Gowanda, NY. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday in the Lakewood United Methodist Church. The Rev. Violet A. Davidson, pastor will officiate.
