Obituary of Rodger L. Knickerbocker
Rodger L. Knickerbocker, 80, of Hilton, NY, formerly of Jamestown, died Thursday February 9, 2012, in Unity Hospital, Rochester, NY.
A native of Jamestown, he was born November 20, 1931, a son of Lewis and Adeline Wallin Knickerbocker.
He was a graduate of Jamestown High School.
A Korean War veteran, he served in the US Air Force from 1952-55.
Prior to his retirement in 1992, he was employed by Loblaws and other super markets companies for 43 years.
He was a member of the former Westminster Presbyterian Church where he served as an usher, deacon and session board member.
He enjoyed nature, walks, working around the house and telling stories. He loved music and singing to his family on long car rides.
Rodger is survived by his wife the former Arlene I. Stebbins, whom he married June 4, 1955; three children Rodney Knickerbocker of Hamburg, NY, David Knickerbocker of Palm Bay, FL and Sandra Knickerbocker of Hilton, NY with whom he made his home; six grandchildren Renee Knickerbocker, Jennifer Holmes, Katharine Decossaux, Sean Knickerbocker, Joshua Knickerbocker and Ethan Knickerbocker and four great grandchildren.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by a brother Ellis Knickerbocker in 1997, a sister Albertina Alm Seastrum in 2001, a brother William Knickerbocker in 2004 and a sister Frances Truver in 2011.
The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Monday in the Lind Funeral Home.
Burial will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery.
Friends will be received for one hour prior to the service Monday in the funeral home.
