My dad, Walt Erickson retired from JNK, and always spoke so kindly of Marv. He was so proud of the retirement dinner Marv held for him, and treasured the watch he presented him with. We still have it among my dad's favorite treasures. God Bless

Pam, Bobby, Tammy, Bart and your families: So many years of wonderful memories of your Dad. I remember going to Brooklyn Square in the good old days and seeing George, Myrtle and Marv at the ESSO station-he was a wonderful friend to my Dad and I will always remember Marv marching in the Memorial Day Parade in his Navy uniform and how very proud he was to do so. You will always cherish the memories that he made for your family. He will be missed, but is now reuniting with all those who have gone before him. Love to all of you!! Lee Ellison Hoytvo

Dear Katie's grandpa!
Even though we only met once, when I visited Jamestown back in winter 2010 (the yummy breakfast!), we already shared some good laughs about "old time stories".
I'm pretty sure we all had a good time there.

I first remember Marv when as a child I went with my Dad to the ESSO station. They would talk, talk, talk, while we waited in the car. Was it my Dad or Marv or both who had the gift of gab! I also remember how kind Marv was when my Dad got sick and how he gave my mother a place to live when she left Canterbury and a job at JNK. He was kind and generous. Mom had that job for years and years. She never said an unkind word about Marv and we all appreciated his kindness to her and my Dad. It's too bad you think about these things after the fact. Wish I could tell him now! God Bless you.

I'm going to miss my uncle Marv. He was one of a kind! I think he was probably a little misunderstood. That tough exterior and that deep low voice concealed a sweetheart of a guy! He was always generous and friendly with everyone. I really enjoyed my time with him playing golf at Conewango. Thanks G Marv, for all you've done for me. God bless you.

I've known Marv since I was a little girl at my Dad and Grandfather's plumbing shop across the street from George and Myrt's gas station in Brooklyn Square. We sure had some characters down there! Marv always took the time to say hello to people who stopped and was a gentleman to everyone.
May your family be blessed with many fond memories of Marv.

Marv was one of the best. I knew Marv from the youngest days of my memories. His mom & dad lived across the street from my great grandfather and my dad worked for his dad at the Esso station in the old Brooklyn Square. I served many years with Marv at the Naval Reserves in Jamestown and did many a (2) week cruise to many places. He always was there with a kind word and a "good grip" handshake and always asked how are you doing?
I saw Marv a few times at the Casino in Salamanca and he was always kidding about how much he had just won!
What a kind and gracious man he was and I will never forget him for all the kindness he showed me over the years. Goodbye Marv and I will see you in when my time comes and extend my best condolences to the family.

You will be sadly missed but never forgotten by all those lives you touched, including me and my family. I was very proud to be a member of your family for all those years, I appreciated all your help and your counsel. I will always remember the good times. Thank you for everything. I think Walt Whitman summed you up perfectly.
Poem: 9. Here, Sailor By Walt Whitman
“WHAT ship, puzzled at sea, cons for the true reckoning?
Or, coming in, to avoid the bars, and follow the channel, a perfect pilot needs?
Here, sailor! Here, ship! take aboard the most perfect pilot,
Whom, in a little boat, putting off, and rowing,I, hailing you, offer.”
Marv, you were that perfect pilot.

Marvin, I know that we only met each other a few times over the past 8 years when Tammie and I would visit you on the holidays in Jamestown.
Even though these times were short hours at the most, I got to know you mostly from the many storys which were told to me from youre family. Some were sad, and some were funy. I listened and heard them all, but what I realy heard them saying Marve, was the Love that each and everyone of them had for you.
I know that when they called upon you and needed help you were there. You were their anchor, and I Know you loved them all. You will be missed by all, but youre soul will go on living in the hearts of youre family, children, grandchildren, and all the lives which you have touched over the many years. As for me, when I grow up Marve, I want to be just like you. Shalom see you in heaven.

I remember Marv when he had the ESSO Station in Brooklyn Square. He was always so nice to me and treated me very good even with some of my stupid questions. He was always honest and I considered him to be a good friend. I dealt with his businesses through the years expecially the truck and trailer rentals. I will miss you Marv but you will remain in my life the way I once knew you. God bless you my friend.
