Obituary of Lewis A. Schroder
Lewis A. Schroder, 80, of 108 W. 7th St., died at 6:33 p.m. Wednesday (March 21, 2012) in WCA Hospital.
He was born December 8, 1931 in Westfield, NY, one of twelve children of the late Thomas and Amy Batson Schroder.
Louie served in the US Navy from 1949 to 1951 and in the US Army from 1951 until 1954.
He retired from Blackstone/Valeo where he had been employed for many years.
Louie loved watching wrestling and the Buffalo Bills, fishing and hunting, and enjoyed woodworking. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
Surviving is his wife, Frances Wright Schroder whom he married August 4, 1956; five children: Dan Schroder of Sinclairville, Marcia (Glen) Johnson of Jamestown, Diane (John) Bach of Salamanca, Robert (Kim) Schroder of Lutz, Fla. and Joyce Kightlinger of Cherry Creek; 14 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren, 2 great- great-grandchildren, 2 step-grandchildren and 5 step- great-grandchildren; and five sisters, Ruth Duncan, Alice Warner, Dorothy Wright, Miriam Wright and Florence Seekings.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Tom, Rubin, Raymond and Michael Schroder and two sisters, Mae Schroder and Margie Ceffili; daughter-in-law Denise Schroder; and a grandson, Glen Johnson Jr.
The funeral will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. Robert E. Reeves will officiate. Burial will be in the Maple Grove Cemetery, Kiantone.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home.
