Obituary of John H. Lingenfelter
John H. Lingenfelter, 83, formerly of 2062 S. Maple St., Ashville and Emeritus of Lakewood, died at 2:00 a.m. Sunday (May 20, 2012) at Heritage Park Rehab & Skilled Nursing.
He was born April 18, 1929 in Jamestown, a son of the late John N. and Audrey Minich Lingenfelter, and was a 1947 graduate of Jamestown High School.
John was a veteran of the US Army, serving during the Korean War, as well as post war.
He retired from the R.E. Michel Co., formerly Strickland Supply, where he had been employed for many years.
John was a member of Pilgrim Memorial United Church of Christ.
He enjoyed family time and will be remembered by all as a wonderful and most honest man, always a gentleman.
Surviving are four daughters: Sue (Ronald) Calanni of West Ellicott, Sandra (Jeff) VanGuilder of Largo, FL, Terri (Rick) Cook of Toano, VA and Colleen (Adriano) DiGiamberardino of Weston, FL; nine grandchildren: Kristen (Mike) Tallon, Andrea Calanni, Casey Lindsey, Danielle (Kyle) Huggins, Sara VanGuilder, Josh and Katie Shay, and Adriano and Massimo DiGiamberardino; and three great-grandchildren: Alexandra Lindsey, and Sophia and Leah Tallon.
John was preceded in death by his wife, Lillian J. Spencer Lingenfelter, whom he married September 2, 1950 and who died December 31, 2008; a brother, H. Grant Lingenfelter; and two infant sisters.
The funeral will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. Samuel Shreffler will officiate. Burial will be in Lake View Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday in the funeral home.
